Hey gang, sorry I can not be there on the 8th, I coach soccer too and have 3 games that day. Was surprised by the early start (10am) but oh well. I can be there the 15th as long as it is still 5PM, the games I coach are generally in the am.

If someone has the complete schedule that would be great so I can let the captain(s) know my availability and hopefully we will not be short handed.

probably older than most of you but also in decent shape, so am happy to play up or at half back.

    Brian

kickoff is at 10:15 ... i'd like for everyone to try and be there around 9 or thereabouts, so we can have a meet-and-greet, distribute the jerseys, kick the ball around, and warm up.

I will be there on the 8th and the 15th. I am not sure about the 29th yet - it will depend on the time of day.:)

So I've been sitting in work thinking about strategy for this weeks game. I know I dont know most of you guys and we havent seen each other play but I think we should play a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield. I think we should just go with a flat back 4 as opposed to having a sweeper. It def means our backs will have to be on the same page but I think having a flat back lets our defenders get forward on a counter more easily. As you can see I've been pretty bored all day.

I think that's a good idea but I think the smartest thing to do is just keep it a 4-2-2-2 (two holding mids and two attacking mids) until we see what everyone does on the pitch and we have a better idea of our strengths and weaknesses.

4-2-2-2 should keep everyone's legs a little fresher, too...

I do agree with a flat back, however. We have a loudmouthed goalie to keep everyone straight ;)

and the 4 mids should/could rotate between attacking and defending, if they want to.

I don't agree with the flat back. I don't think that creating an "offside trap" will help us. I do agree that we do not play a sweeper but play a supportive back 4... with marking switching up marks but not forcing the flat across the back. I think we need to find out if we are quick enough to not be exposed to thru balls and davey will have to be quick out of the back if we play flat. :)

I liked Dillons idea for rotating amongst the four mids(attacking versus defensive). Either way, I just don't think we should be too defensive going with more than 4 in the back. But hey I could be wrong and ultimately it depends on the make up of the team

Ok not FLAT, but not with a designated sweeper, etc.

I think we need to play 1-3-1-2-1-1-1.

    A few questions.

    1) Our game is still being played at Edgley?
    2) Is this part of the Park where you just find a spot to park along the roads or is there a parking lot nearby?
    3) Do we know which field we'll be playing at, or is someone going to have the banner so we know where to gather?

    I can't wait!
