Pescadito captained Guatemala tonight in the UNCAF Nations Cup against Steve Sampson's Costa Rica.

Very limited game summary here, toward the end:

    http://www.concacaf.com/news/article.page/1214

He played very well, but didn't score. He came very close to getting on the end of a brilliantly placed cross from Freddy Garcia, but was just behind it by maybe a step.

He also should've earned a penalty for Guatemala when he was obviously whacked by Leo Gonzalez while going up in the middle of the penalty area for another cross. Referee Felipe Ramos Rizo was probably the only person who didn't think it was a clear penalty.

    ...

Btw, the Honduras squad at this tourney includes only two players from Motagua (Galaxy's first round opponent in the Concacaf CC). Full rosters here:

So Ruiz obviously isn't with the Galaxy in Spain for the La Manga Cup. Is he going to meet up with them over there?

Probably not. Last UNCAF game for Guatemala is scheduled for 2/23.

Ruiz back on track at UNCAF

Unfortunately, today's game against Nicaragua wasn't on Galavision. But they showed all the goals at ht of Panama x Honduras.

His free kick goal looked great. And I swear he was either down or on his way down when he headed in the Freddy Garcia cross.

    Game report:

Next Guatemala game on Thursday against ES on Galavision.

    Super Ruiz

Carlos Ruiz scored three goals as Guatemala defeated Nicaragua 5:0 Tuesday.

well Guatemala might pull it out yet.

1 true spot left to join El Salvador & Costa Rica @ the gold cup, but the fourth place finisher plays in a playoff with the caribbean 2nd place finisher.

Guatemala play El salvador next who are in first place.

then Honduras to finish the tourney, who are tied with guatemala and trying to get that spot.

    should be an interesting finish.

For once, I want Fish to suck it up, and for the Guats to lose...I want Fish at the Peace Cup in the summer, and not at the Gold Cup

    Couldn't agree more.

Kick A$$ for the G-men, Pescadito, but when it comes to the Gold Cup & WCQ for Guatemala v USA, you WILL be the enemy!!!!!!

That said, I hope you're ready to "bust out" again in 2003 & give us a REEEEEE-PEAT!!!!
