Bring it! The election is on. The voting has begun and MSNBC already had to make a correction of reported results. We are LIVE from Dixville Notch, New Hampshire and the results are in... Bush 19 votes Kerry 7 votes Some other town had a tie. Good luck to all the candidates and let's all hope The United States of America comes out the real winner.
http://www.evote.com/index.asp?Page=/news_section/2000-11/11072000Bush2.asp Hart's Location actually has it Bush 16, Kerry 14, Nader 1 this year. So it looks like Bush has lost 3 votes, and the Dems have picked up 3. If they can pick up 3 votes this quickly, you've gotta like their chances on picking up 538 in Florida! EDIT: That link's headline won the "Understatement of the Millenium Award."
What are the commentators over there in the US saying? Over here right now they think things are ever so slightly in favour of Kerry.
I got to the poll before it opened at 6 am. Didn't get out of there until 6:45. I think turnout's going to be pretty good.
Mike Moore's site and Air America have complaint spikes right now in PA and SC... Important Phone Numbers: 866-MYVOTE1 (698-6831) 866-OUR VOTE (687-8683) Both Numbers are excellent resources for local election problems! PA issues: Absentee Ballot fiasco Hey, this year was my first attempt at voting. It was much more difficult and time consuming than I thought it would be. I'm registered in pennsylvania but I'm attending Oklahoma State, so I sent in for an absentee ballot. I started in the summer, I printed off an absentee ballot application off the internet, and sent it on over to the elections office. A week later I called them up and asked them if they had received it. They said they hadn't, but they took my info and said they would send me a ballot. So a week or so later they send something in the mail, and it's the same form I had already sent them. I call them again, and I asked them if they had received my absentee ballot application yet and they said they had, and that they'd send the ballots within the next couple of days. So two weeks later I still hadn't received anything and I moved back to oklahoma for another semester. I mailed out another application with my new oklahoma address. My parents called me and said that they received the ballot in the mail in PA. So they mailed it to me but it turns out they had sent me, once again, the same application I had seen four times by now. So I called them again and asked if they had received my new ballot application and when they would send the ballots. They said they received my application and were waiting to get registered by the state and they should send them early next week. So the next week they sent me a letter but instead of an absentee ballot it instructed me to send them a photo copy of my drivers lisence and it said they couldn't send me a ballot until they had received my lisence. By now the absentee ballot deadline was only a couple weeks away and I was starting to wonder if I was gonna get to vote this year. My sister was going through the same sort of thing with the elections office, and when she called them to ask about her absentee ballot, they told her she wasn't even registered in the state, which she definately was. She ended up convinced them that she was and we both eventually received a ballot. I guess if you really want to vote, it just takes perserverance, along with having your local elections office on your speed dial. Cassandra 2004-11-01 - 15:45:37 PHILADELPHIA voters regestration not handed in I regitered to vote outside of a walmart in philadelphia.I waited and waited for my registration card finaly I called the city and they told me they knew of the problem .because other pepole had called. It turns out they where never handed in.A discount store in a bad neibor hood I wonder who all those pepole where voting for Ross McGee 2004-11-01 - 12:14:59 YORK/LOWER WINDSOR TOWNSHIP Where's my ballot? I am 27 and have never registered to vote until this election. I am so disgusted by our current Pres and his minions that I decided that I could no longer just sit around and let others decide for me. So, I registered to vote early this year and knew that I would have to file for an absentee ballot because of school. I attend school in California. So, here I am, on Novemeber 1st and still no absentee ballot! I have heard that over 2 million absentee ballots are missing and apparently mine is one of them! This is a very apparent attempt to break down the voting system. I am very upset, angry, and above all feel like my right as an American citizen has been taken away. I believe this to be the work of the "W" campaign and that all people who can vote should be outraged....We can't have another election like 2000. Tabitha M. Knaub 2004-11-01 - 11:10:40
Chicago-- 1. Chill. 2. When I read his post, I thought Johan was referencing polls, and early turnout. EDIT: Chicago edited his post, so my post makes no sense now. I probably should just delete it. But I won't. I'm stubborn that way.
superdave = her. Johan Neeskens the poster is female. Johan Neeskens the Dutch football star, scorer of the fastest goal in WC Final history, and current coach of NEC is male. Jus helping here On topic - voted at 7:15 in Long Island NY. Was the only person in the voting place. NY is at least 3-0 for Kerry. anyone who doesn't vote should be banned from the Politics forum
Quite a few redneck's with a frayed Kerry stickers on the back of their trucks at the polls in WV. I know it's a stretch, especially with the Republican propaganda saying that Kerry will ban guns and ban the bible, but you never know. Lots of kids who have brothers, cousins, aunts in Iraq have become political. Many on the request of those family members that are enlisted. It's probably a Bush win but I think it will be closer than projected.
West Virginia's voted Republican three times in the last half-century: 72, 84 and 2000. It'll be close and there's no doubt it's trending GOP in the long term, but in 04 I'm predicting a Kerry victory.
