Unfvcking believable! I turn away thinking its over and now this! This team really is showing some resolve. We wouldn't have done this last year. Downing bails us out once again. We really are fighting to the death (think Bolton at home....) Still we shouldn't have gave away two cheap goals, and I think we should be aiming higher than mroe than a point. But in these circumstances, I'll take it - Southampton is no easy place to go. One point more, should have been two more but hey no loss......now gotta top that UEFA group and beat our rivals Villa, who are also vying for Europe.
Am I the only one in the footie world who actually likes Boro's road kits? Also Boro faithful, what grade would you give Ray Parlour at about the halfway point of the season? I really enjoy watching him play, in fact, he is one of my favorite players.....try not to laugh to hard.
Stewy Downing has to be in the next England scored. he also provided the corner for the first goal! Partizan Belgrade in the Uefa Cup at home next on Wednesday. We need to win to win the group.
Ray arlour had a good game BUT I blame him alone for the first Southampton goal. Graeme Le Saux showed him up and then Parlour didn't really put his heart and soul into fighting back to even pressure Le Saux on the cross, this resulted in a free cross (which to Le Saux's credit was pinpoint accurate) which Kevin Phillips met brilliantly. A point at Southampton isn't ideal but with circumstances i was more than satisfied! I think tought that Boro have got to start playing more for UCL spot than Uefa cup spot, better to aim high than low!
According to the sun, the team will be: Schwarzer, McMahon, Reiziger, Southgate, Queudrue, Parlour, Doriva, Zenden, Downing, Job, Nemeth
Well battered for 70 minutes but we win 3-0....... For any person saying that this is a flukely win, I couldn't care less. Last time we played Villa at the Riverside we barraged their goal and couldn't score (suberb saves from the ex-mackem cvnt Sorenson), then they go down the other end and nick it in the last minute. But this team is playing well and getting the results (the most important thing) So 4th in the table and in the european places for Christmas, can only say I'm very happy....
Hmm. Man Utd and Chelsea are difficult propositions, but the defeat to Birmingham is what really irks me. Liverpool is streaking and Middlesbrough have gotta start garnering points again to hold onto a UCL spot!
I wonder how many we will concede tonight....... I don't fancy our chances at all. Even though from what I have seen of Chelsea, I think they are much overated than the media are suggesting. Some flukely wins imo.... Would be great to stick a giant dent in their championship hope. We did it in '99
