Looks like we're in a rusty pre-season, Dallas 3-0 Metros Recap should be on metrostars.com shortly we had more new guys tryin out, but we didnt even hit the back of the net once, no worries though, its only pre-season, and this means nothing
[R] You are an idiot. I usually don't mind someone hinting at a result in the topic heading but this is just retarded.
i was just tryin to make fun of what MLSnet or some other site was goin to run as a headline, but dont worry, i forgive you ~DRE~
I know you're new around here and have been jumped on for one poor choice of words but don't ever post results in the heading. I personally don't care, I feel that if you tape a game and don't want to watch it until later, stay off BigSoccer. Just saying, if this was during the regular season, some hardasses would be all over your case and you might even get carded. BTW - I posted the "retarded" comment because you put an [R] and still posted the result. Kinda' defeats the purpose of the [R], no?
http://www.mlsnet.com/games/03/tracker.php?gamename=03052003_DALMET Gametracker has the goals by Kreis (off a PK) and 2 by Paul Daglish (trying out with Dallas). MetroStars -- Tim Howard (Paul Grafer 66), Kieran McAnespie (Derk Droze 62), Eddie Pope (Kenny Arena 45), Steve Jolley (Joseph Addo 66), Edgar Bartholemew (Tim Glowienka 45), Jim Rooney (Tim Regan 45), Richie Williams (Joaquin Alvarez 66), , Frederic Meyrieu (Ivan Igleseas 62), Giovanni Savarese (Torres-Mestre 62), .
And Ziadie. METROSTARS HEAD COACH BOB BRADLEY: On the outcome of the match: "We never like to lose, whether it is preseason or not. We had a decent start to the game and we were a little unlucky to have the early penalty call go against us. I thought we had a good first 20 minutes of the second half and at the end when we made substitutes we just lost our way."
Re: Re: [R]"Metros get Burned by Dallas" Zaide shown in starting line-up photo. Geez, those road whites are horrid!
Re: Re: Re: [R]"Metros get Burned by Dallas" Good catch. Now that I've done a count of the roster listed, Matchtracker has only 9 players listed as starters for the Metros. I guess we'll have to wait to see what the complete lineup was.
Timmy's keeper jersey looks nice. I have to disagree, the new white shirts aren't that bad. They look cool. I wish Nike would sell the Metro Keeper Jersey's.
Well, here we are at an 0-3 pre-season record. I understand that it is early yet, but what gives? No goals scored at all in the opener vs. Chicago or in this match. I know that the pre-season is all about evaluating players, but still, I am already beginning to worry....
0 and 3? The Metros beat the U17's, lost to Naperville, tied LA, and lost to Dallas High. 1-2-1 Does anyone know how we did in last years pre season?
Please don't, I remember one season in which we won everything in preseason, we kicked a$$$$, was it 1999? and we sucked in the regular like always. At least we know we are not ready yet, this IS NOT the team yet.
The team is still "auditioning" players, and Mathis and Moreno didn't play in this game. As Lando said in ROTJ, "We've gotta give him more time!"
Re: Re: Re: [R]"Metros get Burned by Dallas" I like them! When I watch a match especially on TV or live I prefer one team to be in white and the other to be in another color. I find each much easier to follow and differentiate.
Re: Re: Re: [R]"Metros get Burned by Dallas" Whoa, they really are. I like the new home uniforms, but those aways need to be ditched. Don't get too hung up on the preseason games. If you take anything from this be heartened that the semi-first team played a good possession first half without the big offensive guns, and Bradley mentions that they were unlucky to give up the set piece. Everyone is still adjusting to one another and getting back into rythem. Don't expect fitness, crispness, extended combinations, or chemistry yet. It also is probably worth mentioning that the final two Dallas goals were scored by current Burn trialist and former DC United trialist Paul Dalglish in the last 10 minutes of the game. He most likely is more fit than most MLS players as he's been in-season in England. I suspect Bradley will have the defenders fit for the opener, so those type of goals shouldn't happen during the regular season. Attacking guys like Mathis, Moreno, whomever becomes the new #10 and rookies like Magee will take a while to heal or round into form. So don't expect a high flying offense out of the gate. -Tron
It's a nice idea, but the execution stinks. Here are a couple of items I pulled: 88:55 DAL -89th Minute. Goal Scored by 22-Paul Daglish, 2nd of game, 2nd of season. Assisted by 21-Shavar Thomas, 1st of season. In Goal was 30-Paul Grafer. 87:00 MET -87th Minute. Shot by 4-Tim Glowienka, 1st of game. Result: Hit Crossbar The goal reference says nothing about how it was scored. Did he dribble around someone after gettign a pass from Thomas, did he one-time it, did he make a move and slot it into the corner of the net, or did he blast it from the 18? Same thing with Glowienka's shot. We don't need to know if it was his first or fifth of the game. By contrast, here is how UEFA.com does their minute-by-minute reports, this the tail end of the Inter-Barcelona game: 90'+6' The final whistle blows and is greeted by jeers from the home fans. Barcelona are into the quarter-finals but, with Newcastle United FC beating Bayer 04 Leverkusen 3-1, Inter still have plenty of work to do. 90'+5' Gabri García is ruled offside but lashes a shot at goal in frustration - so the referee books him. 90'+5' Gabri García(Barcelona) (yellow card icon) 90'+4' Cristiano Zanetti maintains possession for Inter but time is running out if they are to find a winning goal. 90'+3' Motta tries to hoist the ball downfield but the referee decides the ball had gone out of touch before his kick. 90'+2' Gamarra feeds the ball back to his goalkeeper. 90'+1' Five minutes of added time will be played. 90' Riquelme's weak free-kick drifts wide of goal. 90' De Boer's right eye needs attention - but Barcelona have used all three of their substitutes. [ OK, so it's pre-season, but if MLS.net is going to do this at all, they should do it right. Tom
