I have always enjoyed The Family Circus. Gentle humor, and often struck home.

There's a funny book out there called "The Funnies" which is a novel but is essentially about the son of a famous cartoonist who has to try to win the rights to continue his father's work, a family cartoon that will seem very familar to you. It was a very fun read, although it dealt with the heavy topics of a father's death and trying to fit in his shoes.
