The second leg having lost 3-2 at home back in 2003, Owen suspended for the Wales game so Rooney and Defoe will start. Here's a link.

Tried to get a ticket but we sold our 4000 allocation as soon as it was released. Anybody else making the short trip, anybody else in the slightest bit interested in this game, anybody remember Rooneys goal in the last game?

    No, yes and no.

It's an England game, so I'll be watching it. It's an Eriksson friendly though, so we'll probably lose 2-1 in a lacklustre performance.

I remember him having a great shot which came back off the post, but I don't remember his goal. Joe Cole did score though didn't he?

Jeez ,another sh1te selection from mr burns.

-Upson gets included over the likes of ledley king ,sol campbell ,etc...
I dont rate him at all.
-phil fvcking neville has been picked yet again .What the hell has this clown ever done that makes him international quality??
-David james is still in after his woeful games on the USA tour.
-Jenas gets picked after hardly featuring for newcastle (souness bust up)
-andy johnson is in after his weak displays in previous games.
    - Glen johnson gets picked after being poor on the USA tour..

overall im puzzled what the hell sven is trying to do.

Does anyone know if the Friendly is to be televised on F.S.C.? The friendly against Holland was and I was just wondering if I was going to have to get it on PPV. :)

As has been said King is injured, and Campbell has been injured as well. I don't know if Campbell will play against Newcastle, but he certainly hasn't proved his fitness in time for this squad announcement.

    Who else is there?

to be fair Glen, on that tour he was played out of position for one game, and for both had to be part of a very experimental back four which had never played together before.

Sending Glen on the US tour to get more experience was arguably a good move as he's a very talented player for the future. But this game is supposed to be preparation for two world cup qualifiers; Sven should be taking a backup right back who is ready for these games now, which Glen so clearly isn't.

If Gary Neville is injured, who plays at right back? Glen Johnson obviously isn't good enough (yet). Carragher? He spent most of his career being an average full back. He's only shown true England first team potential after he moved to centre back. Making him a backup right back because of his performances at centre back is absurd. Phil Neville shouldn't even be in the squad, let alone on the pitch.

Who else is there, outside of this squad? Danny Mills, Wes Brown and uncapped players I think. Please, please stay fit Gary...

You'd pay money to see an England friendly?
Sven doesn't take these seriously, so don't waste your money.

I don't mind Bent getting called up. He's scored goals for the U-21s and has more talent than the likes of Johnson and Heskey.

Darren Bent will be just one in a long line of one cap wonders.

Vassell will start scoring for city and will get back in the England team.

Vassell's class, he's got pace and is a good finisher. It's a shame that Sven doesn't use him properly and he had injury problems last season as well as being played on the wing.
