That tackle beside some others was really hard. Have they ever got back to videos then sanctioned a player? .. Would they do it to Carlos? Thanx.
well, apparently they can, and they are supposed to announce a decision on Monday. asked about the possible sanction, Roberto Carlos said - "if anybody deserves to be sanctioned, it's the referee". They could say 'no sanction', or they could give him from 1 to 3 games.
I think it would be deserved, but at the same time at least one of those Bayern players should have gotten a red as well for how they were playing tuesday, I counted at least 3 tackles that were intentionally aimed at the legs of the Madrid players. Meh.
Hitting someone's face is a serious offense.... Roberto carlos will be sanctioned. I actually do not mind.... at least for silencing some of the critics.
Let's go to remember the play. Bayern player made a foul that it was very near of red card, in my opinion could have been easily red card. We can see how Beckham the player nearest of the play very upset because he know that it was a foul that easily can broke a player for a long time. Well, The bayern player instead of beg pardon, he stand up putting his face near Roberto Carlos and screaming (probably some insult in spanish, he is argentinian). Amazing!!! He made a terrible foul and he scream to the victim. I wasn't on the pitch, but i think that even a very cold person in the same case would at least said "get away, i d i o t", and would has used his body to appart the other player. Becuase it's incredible that someone that could have broke your ankles, it's over your face saying to you "good" words. What Roberto Carlos made was a REACTION to a agression, not a agression. The instinctive reaction of Roberto Carlos is very very very diferent to, for example, an aggresion of a player to another when the ball is in other part of the field and he deliberately hit the other player with his elbow thinking that nobody is watching him. But Bayern player wasn't happy with his PROVOCATION, he exagerated what RC did, trying that the ref showed a red card to Roberto Carlos. PURE THEATRE!!! He is a smart guy and he wants to quit RC of the field, injured or with a red card. He did not obtain his objetive, but i think that UEFA is going to help him ....... I think that Bayern aptitude it is a total lack of class, they are trying to take advantages outside the field, of what they couldn't do in the field. If RC can't play the next champions league games for what happened in Munich would be a total injustice. And it is going to hurt us a lot in our aspirations to win the CL. The sub of RC, Miñambres, is injured. And without RC, we have lost or we have had a lot of problems in all the games. The ref and the linesmen were pretty bad in that game. They were getting more calls wrong than right.
I agree, but a few games back, Beckham was kicked hard enough to open up his ankle and require stitches. Real Madrid didn't seek to sanction the guy. I believe many teams seek to weaken RM in any way because they can't beat them on the field. R. Carlos is being singled out with the intention of keeping him from playing the next game, not the actual slap in the face after a hard tackle on him. Why don't they sanction him monetarily? No matter what happens, referees will never turn over a decision in favor of RM, so this leads me to believe he will not play. GIVE 'EM HELL SOLARI!
On another forum I made known my serious misgivings about post match sanction on the basis of video evidence.Its biggest dificiency is that it can never stand the consistency test...i.e. it can never be applied consistently. I even gave an example that where a goal had been awarded illegitimately and later video replays reveal that it should not have been awarded then here the principle fails the test.Would the goal be reversed coz the goal has proved illegal subsequently? This is the major problem with post match sanctions!
I think the difference between using videos after a game to annul a goal that never was, and giving a player a red card, is that one changes the result of the game while the other doesn't. I'm wondering why already sanction Roberto Carlos while they will decide at a later time if the player of Lyon will receive a punishment for hitting a player from Real?
Its a tough topic, for sure. But doesn't handing out the red card post-match have possibly just as much influence on the next game that removing a goal from the scoresheet would have had?
UEFA made a extraordinary meeting only to sanction Roberto Carlos. Yeah, it was so terrible that they can't wait!!!. But they haven't accepted to see a Video of Real Sociedad - Lyon where a lyon player smashed his fist into Real Sociedad player neck. It was the same day of Bayern- RM. The play was stopped, no ball near, no previous foul, nothing .... but they don't want to see that video. They said that they only were going to sanction RC, i mean to see the video of RC. That is justice. IF the Lyon player were Roberto Carlos, i think that he will be in jail at this moment and sanctioned for the rest of his life. Bayern played very hard, some of them should have seen a red card. But wehave finished with a lot of yellow cards and a player sanctioned for 2 games. The people and the players in madrid are very upset, Bayern has tried to win outside the field what they didn't win on the field. Well, they must be happy because we will lose one of our best players and we will have to change probably a big part of our defense for a game so important. But they will have a athmosphere very very hostile against them in Bernabeu, and the players extra-motivated to dedicate RC the victory. I really hope that the refs has the same criteria that they had in Germany and we can made all kind of hard fouls without see a red card, and if some Bayern player is upset because some of those fouls could have injury them, i hope that they don't made any gesture or instinctive reaction or they should be sanctioned with at least three games, and UEFA should make a extraordinary meeting only to sanction them. Also i hope that the spain TV don't show replays of RM hard fouls or aggresions, and that repeat 10 times every Bayern hard fouls or aggressions. Because now we know that the people that controls the TV will decide showing or not showing a image if a player is sanctioned. They have the power, not the refs. Finally, RM have until tomorrow to appeal the sanction. I hope that the sanction is reducted to one game. Anyway Bayern would have what they want, that RC wouldn't play against them.
It does have a big influence, but on a game that hasn't been played yet and it would be a 'right' influence (if the player deserved the red card, and should have gotten it during the match but didn't...he wouldn't be playing anyway if the ref had done his job) Imagine all the supporters going home happy after a game, only to find out a day later their win turned into a draw or something like that. It's a bigger deal to change a score, than to influence a game that hasn't been played yet. At least that's what I think the reasoning behind this is.
