Mega shout out to the CB's today. They were massive. Hell, the back four in general were great. Everton is always a tough team to play against at The Goodison so regardless how sloppy we looked at times I'm really pleased we won. This team is growing with every game. I just hope it carries on to next season. ps. Sorry for 3 straight posts.
I know I'm biased, but I don't see how you can be that close to the goal and not be active. He is drawing attention from 2 players who could potentially tackle/block a shot and distracting the keeper from being in the best position. Also, in the prem, do linesmans use their flag to indicate which (near, far, middle) player is offside giving the ref a chance to overrule wrt to active/passive.
It's not offside until the player becomes actively involved. And players are constantly in an offside position while not being involved in play, for loads of different reasons. The linesman was just shit.
Decent result. Got very lucky with the disallowed goal but what really worries me is that I'm one of those people who believes that things kind of equal each other out. So, I'm just waiting for the misfortune to come around. However, Arsenal have had plenty of misfortunes so maybe that was payback.
I have often thought this, though it's not how the rule is written so I don't expect them to call it.
Sure, but you could also argue that if Mason wasn't so inept, we would've been given a PK on Drenthe's thigh-hook takedown of Rosicky. And also, I agree with kanonier and crazy. I realize here that the AR probably just effed up and was calling Drenthe offside, but I don't see how Jelavic can be considered "passive" in that situation. Again, I realize that he probably was passive based on how the rule is currently interpreted, but, IMHO, I guy in the box, in front of the keeper, and possibly drawing defenders to him like that, should be considered offside.
Hey, a win is a win. At this stage of the season, those 3 pts were sweet manna from Heaven. BRING ON VILLA!
Yes and no. FIFA rules stipulate that when an AR indicates offside they hold their flag downward (on a diagonal) for an infringement on the near side, parallel to the ground for something in the middle, and raised on the diagonal for the far side. The issue is this is only done once the ref acknowledges the offense as indicated by the AR lifting their flag straight up. So in that sense, the ref could not look over and see what side the offense occurred, only once he has blown for the call if that makes sense.
They already equaled out. This is Karma for that offside goal Saha scored against last year at the emirates. We came from behind that night and won 2-1, and I remember officiating was pretty bad against us.
We'll see. I don't refer back to last season to try to equal out. Too easy to make myself comfortable.
What if Drenthe had been called for the foul in the box, Arsenal would have had a pk. What if the goal was allowed to stand and it increased the Arsenal's energy, while Everton relaxed at 1-1. Bad calls do go both ways and what ifs are pure speculation.
does anyone really think that was a PK?? i saw it and thought, no chance.. rosicky was looking for it if i'm honest.
I thought it was in real time and after seeing replays. The announcers thought so too after seeing the replays. Arseblogger thought it was. So did the Untold Referees blog.
it's not my opinion.. i'm sorry, was a penalty given?? who took it? if it wasn't, then there wasn't a penalty. what am i missing here yoss?
If you're looking for an argument, I'll be glad to oblige. Quite simply you have the opinion that the ref's decision NOT to call a PK was correct. I disagree. Are you able to comprehend that or do you wish to continue playing semantics games?
the prudent comment would be "if the ref wasn't so inept, he would of given us a clear cut penalty". thanks for playing.
