from what i've heard some clubs like melbourne do very well, others not so well.

here is what is in the wiki:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-League

Basically its like MLS back in the mid 90s.

    Sort of.

you have like two clubs with huge attendance and the rest just around low MLS upper USL level.

Comparing this final to something similar would be like 1997s MLS Cup at RFK with 57,000+ people.

High attendance club + playing the final at home in a large stadium.

And now, they sing Victory The Brave as one: Blue and White Brigade, Southern Death Crew, May 7 Crew, BWB Youth, and the rest of the Melbourne Victory supporters.

I heard over 55,000+ filled the stadium. That's amazing and happy to hear that football/soccer is getting the strong support in Australia. I haven't seen a 5 goal act by one player since Clint Mathis in 2000 in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl for Metro.

I actually think the score was a reflection of how poor it was. Not downplaying the result, but come on.

well done to the victory, aloisi you are a disgrace and a sore loser to boot! Like we sing in Adelaide, we got the wrong Aloisi. Time for Veart, Alagich and Aloisi to say goodbye! Sydney can have ?Kossie too, a major c@@cksucker if I ever seen one!

again well done to Melbourne, to FFA get some decent refs and linesmen for all the teams.

Melbourne is the best city in Oz. This glorious win backs up Melbourne's superiority in everything.

Ross, you suck. You have brought shame on your family. What would John be saying?

I think Melbourne got their age mix just right. Adelaides average age has got to be atleast thirty and Im pretty confident it would be over that If it wasnt for burns and djite. The old legs just didnt have it in them after the war of attrition last week.

    Well Done Victory!

No arguments from me. Not much of a contest.

But you've got to hand it to Archie Thompson -- earlier in the week, he predicted he'd score a hat-trick. And lo and behold, he got it... all the goals in the first half, and two more after the break.

He's off to try his hand again with another European club the next time the transfer window opens, no doubt about it. Coming through in a big game like he did, via his own expectations or otherwise, that shows he's too good for this league and needs to move abroad.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA, come on dude, I know you are excited and everything about your win and yes, I feel Victory was the better team, but remind me, when was the last time any of your ten teams out of 16 won or even participated in an AFL grand final? My memory is a bit hazy...

Re: What a Victory by Victory

All his goals apart from the 3rd goal were tap ins or that 1 on 1 with the keeper all from Fred. Fred should've been MOTM but seeing a guy score 5 goals and not get it would've been a shock for many.

Re: What a Victory by Victory

I agree with others - Fred put in a man of the match performance and set up most of the goals, Archie finished them well. I am not an Archie fan nor a Victory fan, but well done.

    Adelaide:

    * Kosmina you are a disgrace. How can you talk to your team about discipline when your own actions are childlike and the actions of a fool.

    * Aloisi. Captain...? Whatever. You were a disgrace.

melbourne dont play possesion game.. its usually the other teams who beat us in possesion but we always strike on the quick counter attack.. and the kits are shit lol

btw, the a-league is very respectable for a two year old league imo.. tell me what you expect for teams that have been around for 2 years and playing on a 38 degree day (celcius)

and for a country with 20,000,000 compared to 300,000,000 (usa) i'd say our crowds are very good for its 2nd year and are growing all the time.

so you got any other insults for our league or are they the only ones you could think of?

Congratulations to the Victory and it's fans on a most impressive result in the Grand Final. The was the first A-League game broadcast live in the U.S. (that I had a chance to watch), and it seemed like the weekly highlight show -- a constant barrage of goals.

Fred and Thompson were a joy to watch, the atmosphere in the Telstra Dome was electric and the production of the Fox broadcast was very good as well. (Of course, we all got virtually no sleep, but it was worth it.)

    Well done.

I was listening on radio, so it was a cacophonious mix of the SEN, ABC Melbourne and ABC Adelaide broadcast teams.
