Actually, 1/13 is the reverse away fixture (no change in that plan), and 1/20 is the rescheduled home fixture. Just the batting order was changed. AND we lost the nice cushy Forest match in between, helpful for rotation. Now we have a crucial match at WHL in between. That's one of the things that's pissed off Arsenal/fans.
Seriously????? p.s. Someone other than @And_ROOS has to step up for our trip to Anfield on Thursday. Right @yossarian?
Sentiment understood. We picked the wrong domestic cup to check out on today. BUT I’m not one to ever give up before a ball is kicked.
not a lot of club would have gotten the permission to game it like that. *probably* liverpool and manchester united.
True. And you think we should not show up on Thurs as a matter of principal? Or protest? Or removing 2 fixtures from a crowded lean-squad January? Or ??
I’ve been wondering if Pool has gotten special treatment lately because they’re the most likely team to keep City from totally running away with the league, or at least appearing to. I.e. the EPL asks the FA to cut LFC some slack, even though it’s a completely unrelated tournament, it helps them avoid running themselves into the ground on all fronts.
Someone put up the statistical odds of this happening on twitter... People saying "why do you even care?" not realising we now have 2 semi finals against Pool, and a crucial NLD in the middle, with 3 days between the first semi and the NLD. Maybe we should magically find some false positives and have the NLD moved to a more convenient time.
This is really a moot issue, the NLD was always going to be three days after the trip to Liverpool for the away leg in the league cup semi. The change in schedule probably leaves Arsenal more prepared for the NLD because it won’t be the fourth game in 10 days. Instead Arsenal will end up playing 4 games in 14 days.

even worse, for me, when combined with someone's tweet who said liverpool has used 30 players in cup games this season and 8 of their regular premier league starters have, apparently, not played a single cup games. that means they have a, dare i say, pool of 38 players to pick from. you couldn't have played with that?!?!?
Looks like this "special treatment" that Liverpool seems to have received is a good example of what @The Jitty Slitter has been on about for some time... the big tilt. And if Arsenal were in their spot, i.e. the first or second best team in the country for some years, in the best position to keep a title race alive, his tilt premise would presumably apply to us as well. Of course we were in that spot 20-ish years ago. I honestly can't recall the degree of tilt-suspicion back then (except for "Fergie time" complaints), or whether we tended to be the beneficiary of such tilt. But I want to believe that we would not have resorted to cheating in order to achieve this special treatment, as Liverpool seems accused of.
We never seemed to get the same level of dodgy pens that Yanited got then, and still got up until about a year ago.
Anybody new wanna get the new thread up? KO is in 20 hours. If not, I'll do it. But I don't exactly have the best track record of late. Last time was Everton... a surprise one-and-done for me. Time before that wasn't much longer I think.
