Hey, I have to write an article for my school newspaper about September 11th. It's a special remembrance issue. I was wondering if you all could help me out. I am looking for quotes from athletes about how it has effected them especially the New York teams. Also how all the games were canceled and everything. Thanks a bunch.

I have worked for philly teams for 21 years and the most amazeing thing i saw was when the flyer and the ranger stop the game becase the fans wanted to watch W speech to the nation.The fans did not want either team on the ice untiil the speech was over

Solemn reminder
The U.S. Women's National Team played Scotland in an international friendly at Crew Stadium on September 8. The entire team and staff could not help but remember that they had been in Columbus a year earlier for the Nike U.S. Women's Cup when the terrorist attacks hit New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

"It brought it back to us immediately when we checked back into the same hotel," said coach April Heinrichs after the match on Sunday. "I remember looking out our windows last year and seeing planes fly by -- it was absolutely frightening. Last week we were in the same hotel in the same week as we were a year ago when that all happened. We were up in the fitness room and I was thinking, 'This is the same TV we watched all the news on before.' It's been sort of an alarming, unsettling reminder."

"Just coming back here was really weird," admitted captain Lorrie Fair. "When we got to the hotel this week, we went up to our floor and looked down at the lobby. I remember all of us sitting there last year, all of us together. We sat there for a good while because we didn't know what we were going to do, whether we were going to play against Japan or not. It was eerie.

"We get the USA Today every day. We've spent our mornings this week bawling over the articles in the paper. All the heroism, all the sadness... if it didn't jog your memory being in the same hotel, it did reading all the stories."
