From the Calgary Storm coach: "If it's Major League Soccer, you can make mistakes like that, but if it's A-League soccer, you can't." Pass to the right, buddy. Pass to joint to the right.
No... I also read that and did a doubletake. I think the Major League that the coach was referring to was AMSL Alberta Major Soccer League...which most of the Storm players and fans are all aware of.
when i read it.... i thought the writer screwed up the quote with the coach actually saying you can't make that mistake in mls, but you can hear (to that effect)
what explanation? i read this article this morning and don't remember seeing any context which explained the quote. i did a doubletake too. though i did see the montreal forward who scord twice, set up one and "caused" an own goal play on FSW on friday, and he was pretty decent.
Not when a guy whose team has won seven games in the last 14 months or so basically says that the A League is better than MLS.
And when said team plays in front of a generously announced 1100, their biggest crowd of the year. I've heard Calgary is so flat that if your dog runs away from home, you can see him leave for three days.
Having just been to Calgary, I can report that it was surprisingly wavy. All bets are off about Saskatchewan. Move the Storm to San Jose.
You guys should have listened to the Rochester radio people during the Open Cup match against KC last year. I've never heard such delusional crap. "In MLS they tend to just get men behind the ball, and it doesn't have the hectic, up-tempo pace of the A-league." They said other things that sounded like the only difference between the A-league and MLS was the style of play. Laughable to say the least.
Well, when Hudson said DC was playing some of the prettiest football in the league, he lost me after that.
Alexi Lalas in an espn.com chat: Will, Pittsburgh: Do you dare leave snacks unattended in your locker with Sigi Schmid walking around? Alexi Lalas: I would expect something better! That's the easy way out, Will. Haha. We at the Galaxy do not leave snacks, dinners, or small children laying around for fear of consumption. Nuff said.
Ray Hudson: "If you don't see the class in (Galin) Ivanov, then you're as blind as Stevie Wonder locked in a vault."
