    Where Metros play.
Now we all know who is the best soccer team of America, but I have other question about the MLS.
Is L.A. Galaxy the best team of Concacaf? How good he is at the soccer world?

LA needs to prove that they are the best in Concacaf. They did win the tournament in 2001, but all the games were played in Los Angeles area so some people have claimed that it was not a true test. Others say that the Mexican league teams do not take the concacaf championship seriously so they discount the results. Too soon to make this judgment.

  3. Also, the 2002 TFC champion have already been decided... AND ISN'T LA GALAXY!

True, but their win Sunday earned them entry to the tournament next year as one of the MLS reps. Who is the other?

Doesn't the US get four rep's? If so I'm pretty sure it will be:

GaLAxy, God's of US Soccer in 2002,
    Rev's, (MLS Cup runner's up)
C-Bus, (US Open Cup runner's up;))
San Ho (Supporters Shield runner's up)

games played in the LA area vs. mexican league teams aren't always an advantage for the galaxy because of all the support the mexican teams get in LA. and the mexican teams discount the results of anything they don't win

I am trying to recall who LA played in the tournament, and my recollection is we did not face a Mexican League team. I remember Olimpia, and DCU, and I think another Central American club, but I am not sure.

I am well aware of the support the Mexican League teams draw here - as is any LAG fan that was in Fullerton earlier this year for the exhibition match.

I know what you mean about the tendency of some Mexican fans and teams to discount anything they don't win, but in this case the problem (as G Jones pointed out today) is the participation in Copa Libertedores overshadows the CONCACAF tournament. As long as CONCACAF keeps treating its own club championship as a second-rate event, I can't fault any Mexican team or fan for doing likewise. CONCACAF has a lot of work to do to build this up into a major event.

  8. Nothing compare to play in your home. And all the games played in the same city? THAT'S NOT A REAL CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIP! Other important thing to consider is the importance that the clubs gives to the tournament. Most of the mexicans opinions that you can read from in Bigsoccer are from Mexican-Americans, as a Mexican living in Mexico I can tell you that the first time I noticed that there was a TFC championship was through
    Bigsoccer.

Thanks for that insight. It truly undelines what I suspected: CONCACAF has a LOT of work to do if it wants to have a prestigious club championship tournament. But, that doesn't mean its not a good idea to have a good tournament. In fact, I think its a great idea. It just means its not at that status yet, so I fully understand the attitude of many Mexican clubs and fans.
