Okay so the rosters are 16 active players and these are our players: Boxx Janss Milbrett Orlandos Pearce Pearman Peters Rapp Raveia Salisbury Smolak Tietjen Webber Welsh Thats 14. Now Whalen and Whelchel are the other 2 for the 16, but Whalen is inactive and doesnt count against the 16. Neither does Whelchel, right? Our reserves are Davey, Baumgardt, and Jones. Meghan Frey is a developmental player. Now on the website, Keri Sarver and Carrie Proost are listed without a (DEV)or (SUP) by them, so I guess they count as the other 2 towards the active 16?? Okay for the Philly game, Salisbury, Orlandos, and Webber were listed as OUT. So that would bring up Baumgardt, Davey and ?? up from reserve status to the active roster. One thing i want to know is why are Sarver and Proost on the active list, while we use Baumgardt and Davey more? Their team status shud be flip-flopped so we could use them in any game, instead of when we have injuries...right? This post might seem kinda pointless but i just wanted to get this straightened out cuz im confused. BTW - Who is Carrie Proost and where did she come from??
Who's on first? I believe Sarver and Proost are Supplemental (temporary) players even though they are not listed that way on the roster. Whalen is injured but out for the year. Whelchel is injured but may return at the end of the year but more likely will not be back until next season. Since they are paid they are on the roster which means New York has two less players than the other teams. In the early games they were playing with less than the minimum number of available players due to National Team callups and injuries. That's when Sarver and later Proost were added. Proost was the assistant coach at James Madison for a number of years as well as a player/coach for the Hampton Road Piranhas of the W-League. In fact, last Friday she played for Hampton Roads in the exhibition game against the Freedom. So either she is no longer with the Power or they allowed her to participate since she was not active for the Charge game. I think Active, Reserve, Developmental and Supplemental are terms used to designate pay status and not playing availability status. In other words they can activate whichever players they want. However, any player not on Active status can be signed by another team if they are offered an Active roster spot. I think that may have been why Allie Sullivan of San Diego was promoted to an Active spot - another team may have wanted to sign her.
