My dad turns 80 this year and we are trying to give him a bit of a tribute from his football playing days. He played in the Belgian first division back in the late 1940's for a club called FC Monz (not completely sure about the spelling). Does anyone know if this club still exists and if, so, which division are they in and do they have a website? Thanks.
I only know one Belgian club called Mons. But then again i'm not Belgian. RAEC Mons, the site is: http://www.raec-mons.be. Perhaps its the same club.
You might mean RAEC Mons, a smaller belgian team that's been in and out of the first division the last couple of years, they just got promoted back to first division for next season. Link for their page http://www.raec-mons.be/html/index.php (in french though) It is also possible that FC Mons is another team or it merged with some other team by now and got a new name, happened quite frequently in the past. You can also start your research here: http://www.belgiumsoccerhistory.com/ This site SHOULD have all the player names in belgian highest divisions from 1895 till now. Find what club he played for exactly and start from there I guess. Hope this helps a bit and good luck with your search If you need any more help with dutch/french sites (although my french aint that great), you can always send me a PM.
Hi name of the team is Royal Albert Elisabeth Mons during the 1949-50;50-51;51-52 seasons the club played in the "first division B" which was the second level at that time they never previously played in firts level, this next season will be the 3 championship the RAEC will play in first level (jupiler league) may be if you visit the forum of Mons supporters, you will be able to find someone that have old pictures of the team fab
you should try contacting the club and seeing if they'd be willing to give you guys some tickets or be willing to recieve your dad and show him around
