I was wondering if any of you know about an Iranian who plays in Bundesliga II by the name of Feraydoon Zandi. I have heard that he has played for the U-21 german team and right now he may play for Iran's national team. He is currently the 2nd goal scorer in bundesliga II.

He has grown up in germany but according to Fifa's rules if he has'nt played for germany's national sr. team he can play for Iran's. His father went to Iran a couple of days ago to talk to Iran's coach ;but according to the persian newspapers the coach said we don't need him right now however he might change his mind.

He has two caps for the german U-21 and that means he is not available. From the first official game, wether youth or senior, for a country, you can´t switch anymore.

Ferydoon Zandi will probably come to Hansa next season. They said that the coach Juri Schlünz is interested.

    He can play for Iran

Yes he has played for the U-21 side but like i said according to the FIFA rules he can still play for Iran as long as he don't play for Germany's national sr. side. We currently have players who used to play for armenia and azerbaijan's U-21 and U-23 sides but are now in Iran's national team however they usually sit on the bench.

Re: He can play for Iran

The question is, if those games are part of an official competition, like a qualification-match for the european championship and Zandi made his debut in such a game against Finland in 2001.
So he is definitly NOT available. His father can make as man trips as he wants, but that won´t change anything.

Beside: U-23 games are not official, so it doesn´t care if you play them.

If a ypung player makes an appearance for Germany in qualifying games for WYC (U20), UEFA youth competitions or Olympic qualifying, he is cap tied to Germany FOREVER.
The only out is if the game is a friendly.

Zandi entscheidet sich für den Iran

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

März in Laos an.
