Just went out to a local soccer store and bought a DC United home jersey and was wondering the details of washing them - cold water, can not dry, etc. I didn't see any info on the tags. Thanks.
Cold water and hang to dry. FWIW, I believe someone posted here that the DCU equipment manager said you can dry on low for about 10 minutes. If you have the numbers on the back I wouldn't though. I hang mine to dry and it dries quickly.
I can't believe I'm actually replying but ... I (OK my wife<G>) uses a cold wash and sticks it in the dryer - no problems whatsoever.
Alright, that's all I needed to know, thanks for the replies. I felt funny asking a question about clothes on here, but I wasn't about to piss off my $68 and ruin the jersey. Thanks again.
The best thing about the new jersey technology is they are quick dry. A couple of mine come out of the washing machine (cold water) dry. It is pretty amazing sometimes... JH6 don't you wash yours inside out? I do to prevent "stuff" from sticking to the numbers - particularly bad on English jersey's with the felt numbers. Yes, I do the laundry because not mistreating my jersey's is not one of my wife's qualities. She has many but that isn't one... She does however cook very, very, very well! I hope she's not around here...
i like to soak mine in beer thrown through the air after previously standing in a rainstorm in lot 8.
What's all this about washing a jersey? You take it off and let it dry, sweat and all. Eventually, it stands up in the corner on its own and you can literally toss it in the air and run into it. Very efficient. Washing destroys this efficiency. BTW, this works for underwear too, but that's a separate subject.
I wash mine in warm water and hang them up to dry. Sometimes I'll throw them in the dryer and that doesn't seem to have harmed them. But I have this irrational fear that they'll melt (I don't wear a lot of plastic clothes) so I hang 'em up.
Wash it in cold water, gentle cycle. Then air dry it. I hang mine on the shower curtain to dry. It dries in about an hour. I have about 40 replicas and they're in great condition.
I washed my Croatian jersey enough times to erase signature by Suker (WC '98 Golden Shoe) from it. Guy's an ass so I'm not too upset
