Last night, my television (a decent quality HDTV) did something weird with the game broadcast. When the cameras shooting from the broadcast booth area were in use (most of the time), there was a rasterizing, stroposcopic effect evident on most of the field markings, particularly the touch lines. Camera shots that were closer didn't have such a problem, or at least, it was not visible. The problem was quite severe and greatly interfered with watching the game. It was also evident both on the HD ESPN2 channel and on the non-HD version. Did anyone else experience this? Is there any solution?
i have a 43" plasma, its an alright set, didn't notice anything but the briefest of pixilation which happens from time to time with little blips in signal quality.
I endured exactly what you're describing. It was maddening at times. Seemed to get worse if the camera panned quickly, particularly in a vertical direction. It was almost as if the HD was too HD, if that makes sense. Like, too digital. Which is pretty much what you meant by rasterized, I guess.
What is your satellite/cable provider? I have an excellent HD TV and DIRECTV... I DVR'd the game and rewatched it today and I didn't notice a single problem in the quality of the broadcast. I just now watched a little bit to try and see the problems you're describing, and nothing...
