I was thrilled to see a write-up on MLS cup on kicker.de (imagine ALBA Berlin in Sports Illustrated). The write-up was "short-news", so I'm wondering whether or not there was an actual print story on the Galaxy's championship (& then if I can order a back-issue while I'm there). Anyone know?
I have a vague recollection of reading about the MLS in the print version of Kicker and seeing a picture with a very happy looking Cobi Jones. I may have read it on the web. My advice would be to contact Kicker by e-mail. That is who you would have to contact to get back issues too, I imagine. Cant you just bring it up by doing a search on the Kicker web site? (For some reason I can't log on to Kicker right now, I will give it a shot again later and post a link if I find it).
kicker for sure had an article on the MLS Cup in the printed edition. They got a section with international soccer and MLS appears about 5 to 10 times a year I'd say. Not all articles enter the Internet version, but here are two examples on the Cup final: Taylor Twellman leads New England to the final: http://www.kicker.de/content/news/a...pieltag=17&spielpaarung=&turnier=&keyword=mls Golden Goal by Carlos Ruiz for the Galaxy: http://www.kicker.de/content/news/a...pieltag=17&spielpaarung=&turnier=&keyword=mls
well, I sent their American publisher in New Jersey an e-mail. we'll see what happens. Apologies if there is another "How do I get back issues of Kicker in the US?" thread.
B U M P Lots of cobwebs on this thread. Did a search and this was the most appropriate thread I thought I could use to find an answer to a question I have. I just found out that a new co-worker of mine was born in Germany (Munich) and used to follow the Bundesliga. He hasn't watched it much in recent years because he's now married and his wife complains about him watching too much football and blah blah blah... (women ) He's around my age so we reminisce a lot about players and teams from yesteryear, mainly from the 1980s. Anyway, he said that after he moved to the U.S. in the late 70s his grandmother continued to send him the season preview edition of kicker magazin, and he talked about a cardboard insert in the middle of the paper that had logos of each team that you could punch out and use them to keep track of the standings. He sounded like a little kid as he talked about it because it brought back childhood memories for him. He was wondering if kicker still makes those today, and if anyone knows if the magazin - especially that issue with the cardboard table - can be bought from here in the U.S. at a newsstand or something (here in Northern California). I trust some of you know what I'm talking about with this cardboard table thing. I actually have one from the 1985 or '86 season that a pen friend (pen pal) once sent me. I never used it - all the logos are still intact. Appreciate any help anyone can provide.
yeah, they still do the little cardboard table thing i always buy the kicker at the beginning of the season that has all the info on the BL 1 and 2 teams in terms of looking for the actual magazine, go to an international bookstore...or you could look for a German deli, they usually sell German magazines (usually celebrity, or women's mags...but you might get lucky)
You can also try to contect them here, maybe thesy know if and where their magazin is sold in the states.
Thanks to everyone for the replies. I have the Sonderheft issue for this season. One little question: In the little paragraph section called "Tops Und Flops", I know it lists historical content of the clubs: biggest victories, worst defeats, most matches played, leading scorers... but I haven't figured out what the last listing refers to: "Die meister Platzverweise".
the first time I discovered Bigsoccer, there was a huuuge thread labeled 'Bundesliga vs. Premiership' started by an Eintracht supporter, claiming that the BuLi was stronger, and in a few years the undisputed best league in the world this must been somewhere around 2001 or so...
so you didnt sign up for 5 years? I first discovered it in 2005 to ask a question I think and might have made an account i forgot about. Then in 2006 i was searching for torrents or p2p sites and it came up with this site where i joined as squid to ask a question.
