If in 2009 there will be only 15 teams ( I instead hope that they will be 16 ) in MLS , there is the chance that in 2010 there will be 18 teams or is it impossible to expand 3 teams ( Philly, St Louis and NYCFC of course ) in 1 year ?
Let's not get carried away now. 3 teams in one year? That sounds like a little much to me. I'm not even a big fan of 2 teams in one year. I think that 3 new teams in one year would just water down the level of play too much.
I agree and disagree and Ill tell you why. There are several factors that are going to be coming into play over the next couple of years: 1. New CBA. 2. Increase in the Salary Cap 3. Increased cap of Senior Internationals per team. All 3 of these factors will help keep the level of play up, not dwindle the player base and actually increase the overall level of the league for the next 5 years.
3 teams in one year, if they all have the infrastructure either in place or dam near in place, could possibly work. if they got their shit together.
I think that it might be a stretch, considering the Expansion Draft and all. It might deplete the league of too many players. IMO it would only work if the salary cap was raised. Maybe add another dp.
