I didn't catch the name during the broadcast, who is the #10 for Corinthians? The move he busted for the assist on their third goal, against the Strongest in the Copa Lib. today, was pure class and froze at least three defenders and the keeper. Pardon my ignorance if it's somebody obvious, but I'd like to know. Thanks in advance.
#10 for Corinthians is Gil. Since Corinthians ex-coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is now national team coach, and as voros noted Gil is extremely talented, it wouldn't surprise me to see him called up for the national team soon.
Re: Re: Question about Corinthians [R] Gil is indeed talented, and has a humble personality. He may be around at the wrong time. To make the national team he has to beat out Ronaldinho, Kaka, Diego and Carlos Alberto. Tough going. I'm sure he'll get a call up, but it will be an uphill battle to secure a spot even on the bench. Unfortunately I think he will end up the odd man out (kind of like Ademir da Guia in '70). Then there's Alex...
mea culpa Saw Gil in the two legs of Paulista championship, he is growing in confidence and effectiveness. He may indeed make it to the Selecao, as the pundits are beginning to get on his bandwagon. Let's see if he can take Corinthians far in the Libertadores.
primer tiempo y pierden 0-1 con un activo cruz azul is on fox espanol! boca vs DIm? no tv........ahhhhhhhhhhhh@#$^&%*
non-existent? I believe Corinthians hit the woodwork but they fell behind 1-0 after just six minutes.
they will move on copa I saw the game: cruz azul had more spirit and guts than corinthians..... bracas played a typical away game for copa libertadores, wanted a point and goal on a brake away play, and took 3 against. but cruz azul woke up to a a new begining? are they in the closest grop for number 2? I think the grp for olimpia and zorros de calama is the closet call of all. bolivar de Bolivia just made things very interesting in that grp - too! how do you see corinthians in the next round?
Who would they match up with the next round (I'm sorry, I haven't been following as closely as I should)? Based on their form in the Paulistao, they are a terrific squad, with both experience in midfield and finesse and vigor up front (the aforementioned Gil and the surprising Leidson). The left back, Kleber, is my pick to eventually replace R. Carlos in the Selecao - not the same physical specimen, but fluid and very good creating goal chances (probably 30% of Cor. chances created on that left flank). Their weakness IMO opinion is with the goalie Doni; as an opposing coach I would strive for as many shots on goal as possible. Additionally, Corinthians have a complex when it comes to Libertadores. Of all the big teams in Bra, they are the ones not to have won it; even with their 2000 squad. I think they will be pressed in the later rounds if they fall behind in any leg. I'd say they make it to the semis. As for winning it all......? Boca and Santos have to be figured in there as well.
shame on the mulatos! they lost the head before the game, wanted to ruin d'alessandros legs, and end up with 2 goals and ole ole ole ole ole.... they lost for not playing good futebol, river was too smart for them shame on that bad grp of brazileans! hoy nasty the fabio and fabricio, do we have a younger version of EL ANIMAL? THE REF WAS THE BEST tonite in Morumbi.... nice scene before the game started.....
