Anyone know why Albacate have the nickname Queso Mecánico? From a Phil Ball article a few years ago the city is apparently famous for its cheese but he's not quite sure how it became known as Queso Mecánico. Anyone?
Albacete had a time when they played good soccer under Benito Floro, and they got a reputation for beating big teams. Some witty journalist invented the "Clockwork Cheese" nickname after one of the region's chief exports.
