In the What was Brazil's best game ever for you? thread we discussed sharing some games so that we could all enjoy some of the Selecao's great performances. So far received lukewarm reception.

I'm commited to going through with the process for the guys who want it - no matter how few.

I've started this thread to give everyone a chance to sign up if they want to be included. It took the Germany thread guys about 20 days from inception to mailing. I want to start the mailing two weeks from today - Friday July 23rd.

I'd like to follow the format the guys on the Germany board are using. They've devised a method that forces everyone to contribute to the collective.

    Simply stated:

    1) I make a set of original DVD-Rs, and send it to the first person on the chain
    2) The receiver makes copies of the DVDs for him/herself, and sends the originals (the ones I sent in step 1 above) to the next person in line
    3) Repeat step 2........

Thus each person in line's only responsibility is to re-mail the DVD's in a timely manner to the next person on the list. Simple, but requires you to be responsible to the collective. Those of you technologically advanced enough to BTorrent the games, be my guest, but you will still be required to mail the DVDs to the next person who wants them.

Please read the link provided to the Germany thread.

It would take much too long to gain a conscensus on which games to record (each of us have our favourites, or games we already own), so I've picked:

    1) Brazil 3 x 1 Argentina - WC 1982
    2) Brazil 2 x 1 USSR - WC 1982
    3) Brazil 4 x 2 Argentina - September 7, 1999
    4) Brazil 2 x 0 Uruguay - WCQs 1994
    5) Tpmazembe's choice (a surprise selection)

Please indicate your willingness to participate by placing your name and city in the appropriate section. Once we get the full list, we'll put the shipping sequence together. Regular contributors should get first priority, but everyone who wants in will be accomodated.

Remember, for everyone to be satisfied, you've got to be committed to doing your part and mailing it on (preferrably with a tracking mechanism). Girko, brazil forever ....are you guys in?

I'd be willing to take part though I have never mailed anything abroad so I don't know how would that work or cost
To tell the truth I'd be a lot more comfortable downloading 2x700mb for each game but if this way is the best for most I'm ok with it

Though I am not fully aware of the prices in Brazil, mailing a few DVDs with soft cover should not cost much. I mailed a few from Canada (registered post) all the way to Asia for $6.00 and they reached within 10 days.

This process would eliminate the dependence on acquiring connection with viable seeders that is so essential for bittorrent.

girco, the reason I ask that you put your location is to keep the mailings mostly within the same regional area. More than likely you will be sending and/or receiving from a source in Brasil. And as Kaushik notes, the cost of mailing a couple of DVDs would be reasonable compared to acquiring them (consider that traders ask $15-$20 USD for one game).

So if you are in (I hope you join), please copy this post and add your name, city, state and country. Anyone else in please do same so that we have a master list.

Although I'm not yet at 100 posts, I hope I can join. This is an extremely cost-effective way to see these games.

Of course you can join....only need your commitment to keep the mailing chain going.

We'll keep the sign-ups going until end of Monday (July 18th).

On Tuesday and Wednesday we'll set up the mailing/logistical schedule.

By Friday I send out the package.

I'm surprised more people in Brasil haven't signed up. Its not like you'll have to wait until N.America is through to finally get yours. My girlfriend is goint to Rio next week and she'll mail the Brasilian copy from there.

Send to me. When we determine the schedule I'll send it to the person who would be mailing it to you (with your permission).

Galera, let's talk logistics at this point.

I've tried taking into account when people signed up, as well as location in order to shorten elapsed time on the mailings, and requests to accomodate people's travel schedules. Its not very scientific, but lets rest assured everyone will get the games.

    Kaushik - Toronto, Ontario Canada
    Cool Rob- Chicago, IL, USA
Century's Best - Jersey City, NJ, USA
    Arun - EDISON,NJ ,USA
    Celito - Morrisville, NC, USA
    Benito- Miami, Fl--USA
    0-Point - England

girco - Taubaté, São Paulo, Brasil

Based on this schedule, Kaushik will receive from me. When he receives the games he will post on this thread to let everyone know that they are in his posession (the thread will serve as our audit trail). When he is done copying the DVDs, he should PM Cool Rob that he is ready to mail, and Cool Rob should PM Kaushik his address.

Same process for Cool Rob and Century's Best. And so on.

[The exception to the process is girco, who will be receiving a set directly from my girlfriend in Brasil. girco, please PM me your address.]

Regular postal service is fine; just get tracking if at all possible. On average it will take 3 days for mailing, and lets try and copy the DVDs within 3-4 days as well. So each week someone else should have received and resent the original DVDs. From Miami to England will cost around $9-12 with US postal service, and will take around 7 days.

Please try to put in a padded envelope. They can be found at any post office for a minimal cost (or better yet, they are free if you or someone you know work in a corporate environment ;) ).

    Hi Everyone,

I have received the DVDs from Tp today. The games on the DVDs include:
    1) Brazil vs. USSR WC 1982
    2) Brazil vs. Argentina WC 1982
    3) Brazil vs. Uruguay WCQ 1993
    4) Brazil vs. Argentina 1999 at Porto Alegre
    5) A surprise classic

I was having a bit of a difficulty playing one DVD, so I am awaiting Tp's advice. I will forward the DVDs to Cool Rob soon.

    Cheers

I sent messages to Cool Rob asking for his mailing address. However, I haven't heard from him yet. I will send the DVDs to the next person in the chain, i.e., to Century's Best.
