Why does Fox Continue to call SÃO PAULO , San Pablo. This is rediclulous! The Teams name is SÃO PAULO!! There is no reason to Translate the name! Im no São Paulo fan but I find it offensive...even though...I now call Sao Paulo , San Pablo also..heheh
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO that's true, i've heard them say it like that a couple of times, you might wanna go to their web and leave a comment for them, maybe the'll listen.
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO Its not even that they SAY it, but thats how they TYPE it on screen...rediculous
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO I dont know, i guess its spanish thing... My name is Paulo, but most people tend to either call me Pablo in spanish or Paul in english. Thats annoying
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO In Brazil, we don't translate names of teams. We don't call River Plate as Rio da Prata or San Lorenzo as São Lourenço. We call the city Milan as Milão but we say Milan when we talk about the two soccer teams from there.
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO Do you call the German club Bayern Munich or Bayern Munchen? If you call it Bayern Munich, as most English speakers do, then you are engaging in the same thing Fox does when it translates Sao Paulo's name to it's Spanish version. Find something else to moan about.
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO Yep. I call River Plate "Rio da Prata," San Lorenzo "Sao Lourenco," Boca Juniors "Boca Juniores," and so forth.
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO I do. LOL! but I know what you mean Mengao. I've seen Hispanic networks covering US sports go a little too far. Dallas Cowboys becomes "Vaqueros de Dallas," Chicago Bulls turn into "Toros de Chicago," etc.
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO Don't worry, they will not be doing it any more during this year's tournament.
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO well, i call it sao paulo but in certain cases i call the team whatever i hear on tv for example... bayer munich, juventus(in spanish it'd be huventus), dynamo(i actually say dinamo or dee namo), chelsea(i used to say chel se a), etc
Re: WTF is up with SAN PABLO in brazil bayern is called "bayern de munique", and internazionale is called inter de milão. normally we translate only when the name refer to city of team. rs.
Those dumb bastards at fox are really stupid. In other hand I don't know how Sao Paulo fans take it. Just go to orkut, gather the troops and send them fricking 1000000 emails and see what happens. dumb mexicans at fox are the worst
Do Brazilian TV translate....RIVER PLATE to Rio Prata? Better yet....BUENOS AIRES to BOM ARES? Fox can be rediculous and their Mexican guys doing Inter x Pachuca were pathetic: Called Porto Alegre ...Porto Alegro....called everyone on the field Fernandao at a point and Called Fernandao Fernandez in the begining....and the lineup included Inter players that didnt even go on the trip to Mexico! Like Indio! Not to mention they rooted for Pachuca....
