START TRANSLATION: I don't know about you guys, but I am getting tired of waiting for reenforcements for the 2008 season. All the other teams are getting stronger Dallas, Chicago, DC, Galaxy and the others. Last season we had a very good tournament and we have to be better this coming season. But the truth is that we have a very reduced team. Even though we have good quality players, I think we can also do a lot better. The fans of Los Angeles especially the supporters of the Chivas USA wedeserve a competitive team with good quality players and I am not only talking about our starting 11 but also a good bench/subs. It looks like Guzano is oing to leave, and the exit of Martin Vasquez wil also be hard to substitute. SO... Chivas USA all I ask is that you do everything possible to get a strong competitive team together better than last year's because your loyal fans will continue to support you the same or better than ast year! END TRANSLATION
razov/esky - galindo pancho - nags/wicky - marsch - kljestan bornstein - suarez - thomas - vaughn guzan si no esta roto, no lo arregles
Vergara is not putting down the $$$$ until the HDC gets 20k per game, no matter what. You migth get Bravo for a couple of months but he is gone in JUNE.
many felt the same way exactly a year ago! "who is going to replace Palencia?" "what are we going to do without Loquitio" "woot!!!! we just got Amado Guevara" Hell! we didn't even have a coach last year! and you are worried because the assistant coach left? and because some teams are getting some name players? If you ask me we are in a better shape now than we were a year ago! Have some faith! so far we have aquired some players that will definitely add depth to our team. Esky, Harris and Curtin Marsch in an interview with the 2Gs confirmed Wicky as well. Jorge Flores will definitely see a lot more time in the field. Remember Chivas is looking for players that will help the team become a better team! Vamos Chivas!
this year starting fwds - razov, galindo reserve fwds - esky, cunliffe, sueno, hamilton, atiba starting mids - pancho, nags, marsch, kljestan reserve mids - atiba, lawson, wicky?, savage starting def - bornstein, claudio, shavar, lawson reserve def - zotinca, burling, curtin, starting GK - guzan reserve GK - ? last year starting fwds - razov, galindo reserve fwds - merlin, cunliffe, sueno, hamilton, (taylor) starting mids -pancho, nags, marsch, kljestan reserve mids - nunez, rlopez, lawson, starting def- pancho, claudio, shavar, lawson reserve def - zotinca, hernandez, operez, starting GK - Guzan reserve GK - Burpo last year our big issue was consistency from our reserve forwards. we've brought in esky to answer that question (who can actually end up starting). our defense and midfield was among the league's best and we didnt make any significant changes there (if we end up with wicky, even better!). we lost jay who i thought was a key part of our defensive success, but replaced him with jim curtain (who ive never seen play, but is experienced). i have no problem with zotinca starting if we need to change our gameplan. and guzan is back! we're just as good as last year (2nd best record in MLS...2 points from the supporters shield) if not better! we are solid as it is and its not like we need to make any dramatic changes. changes after good season can be dangerous considering our current squad is built on team chemistry (unlike the galaxy, who just tries to get players with reps to please their fans and that happen to cost a lot. it doesnt work) - our players compliment each other well. (all you have to do is watch the last game against KC - the players were crying during interviews, not because they lost the game, but because they realized that many of the players could possibly be leaving the squad.) WE ARE SET. the only thing i can think of is picking up Orlando Perez again - the guy is consistent and gets things done. oh and get that reserve GK...
i cant say anything about player acquisition becuase thats not my field but the core of the team is here and ready and prepared for another long season, we will be competetive, and mybe we will get a DP...
I would say forward depth is fine, 'keeper depth obviously needs to be addressed, defense depth seems good, maybe bring in one more DF for good measure, but what about wide midfielders? Who's going to cover if Pancho or Kljestan get hurt/called up? Harris? Cunliffe? Marsch? I agree with the previous post about bringing O. Perez back, I didn't even know he was gone. When and why did this happen?
Hmmm, Ok what do you know about this? according to La Opinion, Don Garber is hinting Chivas getting ready to make a big announcement. "Sé que no tarda Antonio Cué en anunciar la contratación de un futbolista mexicano de muy alto nivel, es cuestión de tiempo. No digo que sea hoy o mañana, pero estoy seguro que pronto lo hará y será un beneficio más para la Liga" link c'mon give us what you know!
I don't think Cue will announce this Big Mexican star this season! remember Wicky rumors last season!
That sounds to me like Garber bit on another one of those famous "were gonna get player X-proclamations from Antonio Cue. Sorry, I don't think it will happen anytime soon.
I witnessed it first hand and my conclusion is Antonio Cue=Jorge Vergara. They blow smoke up fan's asses!
I also feel the same way! However, ESPNDeportes Radio just touched the subject and they are bringing up Omar Bravo! That it was the buzz that was around Don Garber and other suits in Houston last night during the USA Vs Mexico game.
On Republica Deportiva Omar Bravo himself, said he wants to stay Chivas.Mex http://www.univision.com/content/channel.jhtml?chid=4&schid=9281&secid=0#p
Personally, I'd rather see Donovan at Chivas USA than Bravo. OB is desperate to wash himself of Vergara and Chivas. He would feel like a fish out of water in the MLS. Donovan is a lot of things to alot of people, but he can score AND win in the MLS. Here's some examples of players who played for arch rivals: Roger Clemens as a Yankee. Hershheiser as a SF Giant. Ronnie Lott as a Raider. Some succesful, some not. Bottom line, anything can happen.
