1-0 win for the US. Own goal by El Salvador off a Convey corner kick. Big Win.

At the game, the fans were all amazed at this Red. I will still have to see replays of it, but it looked horrible to us. He walked over to us after the game and clapped for us along with everyone else. THe call was horrendous.

I'm probably gonna be in the minority here but I have no problem with that red card..

Quaranta took a deliberate swipe at the back legs of the Salvadoran player..

It was a stupid play by Tino because it was all the way in the corner and pretty much a ball that was gonna be sent upfield by the defender...

To say that the red card was horrendous is not being objective.. If the Salvadoran player had done that to any of the US players, we would have been screaming bloody murder..

Granted, with all that being said, the ref did lose some control later in the match with some questionable non-cards for some serious hacking by the Salvo's near the end of the match..

I was standing right in the corner when the play happened & as C-Chop says, it was a valid red. Q had the ball, lost it, probably was a little pissed at himself, took a full swing at the El Sal. player and clunked him right in the back of the foot/heel. The noise was loud. I moved to the other end of the field in the 2nd half and folks on that end said they heard the impact all the way down there. As soon as he kicked him, he dropped his head and raised his hands a bit. He knew he did wrong.

The TV angle was pretty good. IMHO, it was definitely a cardable offense. I thought it was a yellow but it could have been seen as a red as well.

I didn't really have a problem with that call, but there were clearly far worse tackles from behind by ES players throughout the game, most of which drew no cards and none of which drew a red. Consistency would have been nice.

With Santino out, this means we'll get to see Knox Cameron get a lot of minutes. Devin Barclay might move up top and give David Johnson could some time on the right wing.

It was a classic Alan Smith-like act of petulance. Clear red. But El Salvador should've had a few guys sent off towards the end.

Having qualified now, we should see the likes of Simek, Lancos, Grabavoy, Stone, Cameron and maybe Baumstark in the lineup Sunday.

yea, at u-17 level we're almost sure to. Canada is playing for something, so it's perfect to see the rest of the team and get an evaluation for the other players.

Nice to have that option for Wrongen.
