Another brutal qualifying opener. This time we were lucky they scored in their own net to give us a win.

Awful performance in terms of finishing and connecting passes in the final third. Yikes.

That was disgusting. Azerbaijan's keeper should be their new president.

First half wasn’t as terrible. At least there was some flow and they barely touched the ball. Second half was tough to watch.

This national team will never stop being absolutely ********ing infuriating.

Every qualifying opener is a damn nightmare.

I can't believe we had to sweat out that result for 90 minutes and I'll never understand how a bunch of world class footballers can come together and fire 29 shots directly at the one guy who they're trying to avoid shooting at.

Also, what's the logic of having Ronaldo take every free kick? The dude is not a free kick specialist. We have other players on the team who are better than him at it. So what's the point of having him blast the ball into the wall every time? Isn't is predictable that he's always going to be the one taking them?

Bang on. Let’s hope our coach learns from this game. I also will say that while everyone on this team is very talented, some don’t mesh well together. Andre Silva and Ronaldo are not on the same page . Does not work. I liked some things that we did in the first half, to me it was just our finishing that sucked. Half the times we shot right at the keeper.

He hasn't been a Free kick specialist since 2014-15. His free kicks have been declining ever since. I love CR7 but he is stubborn. He needs to realize that FKs aren't his forte anymore and needs to let other players take them. Like you said, they are others on the Selecao that are more than capable of taking them.

Things wont change until Santos is gone and we bring in a quality coach.

Expected performance, somehow got the 1-0 in a disjointed displays then safeguarded the result.

Shameful with the top quality we have all over the field now.

I don’t know why you guys are suprised. From the lineup it was obvious this would be terrible. Moutinho, neves, a.silva....enough said.

This must be the 4th or 5th time he has tried mourinho neves together and it’s been terrible every time.

Felix needs to start next game looked good when he came in

Don’t really see the issue to be honest. On a night where France slipped up and so did Croatia, it really just makes me think that 3 points is 3 points.

Plenty to be improved upon but I’m not going to lose any sleep over our performance. Santos will make the necessary changes for our next game

This team plays better when Ronaldo isn't on the field. Sucks to say, but it's true.

Also, Moutinho is like 40 years old. He has no spot on this team. Move on from already. I saw more from Bruno in the first 5 minutes of the second half than I did from all of Moutinho.

I would have preferred that Jota started over Andre Silva for sure but was curious to see how Silva did as he was now playing much better but he and Ronaldo don’t mix.
