Congrats to San Jose on precisely punching penal meters.

Yes, it was Dunivant who converted the 4th penalty kick for San Jose.
The p-b-p is translated adequately, I'd say.
I'll be monitoring their site during the day, and post relevant translations of post-game interviews, etc.

I notice that Jeff Agoos is missing from this list. Agoos was the sole Quake player to miss his penalty shot attempt in the semi-final game. Was he on the field when regulation ended?

We don't even know who was on the field when regulation began!

That list is very much speculation on my part. Please don't rely on it.

Metrostars won the thing with a 1-0 win over the Viking club.

    Wow, what a chippy game!

Sounds like a great trip for the boys. Hopefully no serious injuries besides the normal bumps and bruises.

From this report, it really seems like Donovan and Mulrooney disappeared from the game from long streches at a time.

(no, I'm not serious, I know Donovan and Mulrooney weren't there; I'm parodying some of the comments about Donovan from Olympic qualifying, ie, "from matchtracker, it really seems like Donovan didn't play well).

    Yes...
And now he knows that it's really easy to score from a PK - so he will be more careful and responsible in the box now :)

Quakes Take Third At La Manga

Is the Dynamo Kiev that we just beat the same first squad that was in the UEFA Champions League just a few years ago? Are we that good?

Or was this their second or third squad?

Re: Quakes Take Third At La Manga

It was their second squad Dynamo-2 that plays in Ukrainian First Division (or whatever name their second tier division uses).
But the Metrostars were playing their mostly first squad.

    The 73072
Here is the line-up courtesy of sjearthquakes.com:

SJ - GK Steve Cronin (Jon Conway, 46th), D Wes Hart (Ronnie Ekelund, 68th), D Ryan Cochrane, D Craig Waibel, D Todd Dunivant, M Brian Mullan (Ian Russell, 46th), M Ramiro Corrales, M Tighe Dombrowski, M Arturo Alvarez, F Brian Ching (Jamil Walker, 68th), F Roger Levesque (Dwayne De Rosario, 62nd).

Kinda cool. I'm guessing we lined up like:
    -----------Cronin
    Hart---Waibel--Cochrane--Dunivant
    Mullan--Dombro--Corrales--Alvarez
    ---------Levesque--Ching

...and that team didn't allow a goal in 45 minutes (although it apparently allowed a fair number of shots)...
