The Viking website has Viking in the final. The short 3-word headline was "Viking [short norweigan word] [word close to final]!"; or something very close to that. Apparently Viking scored all 5 and one of SJ's on an own goal.

Uff da! My Norweigan is rusty, yah!

Metros v Viking and Quakes v Dynamo Kyiv.

Not too bad, all 3 MLS teams play Dynamo Kyiv.

Okay, my attempt to decypher the Norwegian report. (Caveat: I know no Norwegian.) Sounds like the game ended 1-1 with Viking winning the PKs 5-3. Defender Frode Hansen scored from 22 meters, while keeper Frode Olsen saved one of the PKs.

    Could be way off...

Uh, not rusty, non-existent. "Og" means "and" in norwegian.

And "apparently" the score was 1-1 after ordinary time and Viking won 5-3 on PK's. Never trust a Wizards fan! ;)

So the Quakes remain undefeated at 2-0-1. That's a hell of a lot better than 0-2-1 from last time, and last time they went on to win MLS Cup!

Well, maybe the MetroStars can beat Viking in the final.

The Earthquakes probably should have won the match, but they were without their two best players.

Lost Semis in La Manga Cup???

I've found only this so far on the semi-final v. Viking:

    http://fotball.bt.no/lamanga/

"Viking er klar for finalen etter seier på straffespark mot San José Earthquakes."

That seems to translate to "Viking are clear for finals..."

Because Donovan and Mulrooney were sent back home to prepare for the USA game against Haiti. Where have you been?

Re: Lost Semis in La Manga Cup???

It's been reported that the game ended 1-1 and we lost on PKs 5-3. Sounds like they made all thier PKs and thier keeper saved one of ours (maybe they shot first and we only took 4?)

Lost Semis in La Manga Cup???

Yep, that is exactly what happened. The story is up on the MLS website.

    Penalty Kick Summary
SJ - Corrales (goal), Agoos (saved), Ching (goal), Dunivant (goal) VIK - Sorli (goal), Berland (goal), Danielsen (goal), Pereira (goal), Kopteff (goal)

BTW Drewb, your topic subject header is a no-no. Readers from Norway and Spain who have not yet watched this game on tape will not be happy with your spoiler thread subject :)

Edit: I should have known the "offending" thread would get merged by the ultra-efficient moderators. No harm, no blood, no foul...

    This doesn't look good

I didn't realize there were other teams there training. I wonder if there are wild parties, or this is just a case of getting bored and doing something very stupid. Was this in the Quake's hotel?

As Russian-speaking sources told me, Dynamo Kyiv are playing an important game on March 7th (Ukrainian Cup, I believe).
Therefore, their entire first team left Spain already, and the second team arrived, instead..

Expect Quakes to severely whoop their asses!

True. Problem is, then they'll say, "Oh, you just beat our scrubs, you didn't go up against the best that we've got."

I took the Russian language route at that site and then translated that but it was pretty scary. Looks like 'San Jose' translates to 'THE DIGNITY - XOCE '.

I can't ever get enough Babelfish translations. That was classic!

And another nice showing for the Quakes.

Question for any Europeans out there: Does the MLS showing in a tourney like this mean anything to any of you out there?

Years of cryptography at eyes-only installations world-wide leads me to believe that the following scored. Note that Corrales tied it up late before the following PKs:

    0:1 (Ekelund - SJ)
    Khatskevich 1:1
    1:2 (Corrales - SJ)
    2:2
    2:3 (Waibel - SJ)
    3:3
    3:4 (?? Dunivant - SJ)
    Protrunks 4:4
    4:5 (Alvarez - SJ)
    5:5
    5:6 (uhhhhh, Walker - SJ)
    5:6 (goalkeeper)
