It's never too early to start predicting the starting lineup:

    Donovan-Ching
    Lagoos-Mulrooney-Ecklund-Mullen
    Corrales-Agoos-Robinson-Dayak
    Onstad

If healthy, DeResario starts instead of Ching. Otherwise, he comes on at the 70th minute....

looks ok to me. for now.

i think alvarez and dunivant will end up starting more games than not by the end of the season.

but for the opener, that's a pretty safe guess.

    Levesque in goal..

Ching and DeRosario at the outside backs, with Waibel and Dunivant in the middle..

Saunders and Onstad running the flanks with one-half the dynamic duo of last season back in the central midfield of Roner with soon-to-be addition Yves.

    At forward, Dayak and Mulrooney.

    ---------Saunders---------------------
    Robinson--Agoos--Dayak--Dunivant-----
    Lagos--Ekelund--Mulrooney--Corralles---
    ------Donovan-------Alvarez (or DeRo)

This might work, DeRo to start if he's 100% otherwise supersub at 70+ min.

well, speaking of DeRo, what's his prognosis? is he playing in the scrimmage v. SJSU?

i may have missed an update but i was just wondering.

and what's up with russell? everyone's got mullan pegged in at right mid but i thought russell might be ready instead.

    again, just wondering.

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. If I remember correctly, the prediction for the healing of his foot should have brought him in for the first game in April.

Can't believe that, even if DeRo's foot is healed, that he'll be ready to play a full 90 already. So...

    Onstad

    Dayak, Robinson, Agoos, Corrales

    Mullen, Mulrooney, Ekelund, Lagos

    Ching, Donovan

I could definitely see DeRo and Alvarez as second half subs...maybe even Waibel or Dunivant (depending.)

    Please soccer gods, be kind!!

    Go Quakes!!!!!

According to this article, he is back training with the team and may be ready for contact drills. However, he won't be match fit by the first game (not that Ching looked match fit)...

I think the lineups posted by quakeattack and sonofapitch are the most likely. Even if Russell and DeRo are ready to go, they won't be ready to start. Also, Mullan has been playing well, two assists last match, and DeRo works well off the bench.

Grimandi sounds like a whinning pansy eh? So the US are beating the tar out of Iraq. It's not like he didn't know that was going to happen when he signed the contract. And he's homesick for France? Does this guy not know any geography? Surely he knew that he was moving several thousand miles from home yes? What a wuss!

    GO QUAKES!!

Personally, if he is walking away simply because he doesn't agree with what the US is doing in Iraq, I respect that. If he is homesick and not adjusting well and decided to make it about the US in Iraq.....then I agree he is a whinner.

Oh, by the way.....Donovan and Ching(DeRo, if he's ready) up top with Lagos, Ekelund, Mulrooney and Mullan(Russell if he's ready). In the back, I'd like to see Dunivant on the left and Dayak on the right, with Agoos and Robinson at Central D. I'm sure Yallop will play Waibel though.

There may be hope in the Grimandi situation. Maybe Wade will decide that he can no longer put up with the mass murder being perpetrated by the Danish on the North Sea Herring population and decide that his conscience requires him to return to San Jose? Or perhaps, GK Joe will tire of the noissome and irritating faux-superiority of the French and long for a return to the friendly confines of Spartan?

    One can only hope...

Slightly bending the topic, but bsman reminded me. Did anyone see the Western Union World Football show Sunday night/Monday morning. They had a spot about an English football fan who has given up his British teams and takes the train and drives to support Lens. He said that the atmosphere and the food are vastly superior to what the English clubs had to offer and that everyone was very friendly. Season ticket is only $120.00. They showed the first-string keeper, but I could not see M. Josef Cannon. No idea of when it was made. Exactly where is Lens? If it's in Breton that explains a lot.

You notice all his buddies at Arsenal aren't walking out on their zillion dollar contracts in protest of England's participation in Operation Global Conquest, Phase I. :p Then again, that season's almost over...but I'll bet if they're under contract they go back next season regardless of whether the conflict is over.

And, as Mark points out, unless he was living in a cave, he had to have known this conflict was likely when he originally agreed to play for the Rapids.

Re: Re: Quakes vs Rapids - Starting Lineup

well, they haven't walked out, but there is a quote over on the rapids board (in the grimandi thread) where Pires says he and other french players at arsenal are ready to sit out games in an antiwar protest...

    ...FWIW.
