Quakes without DeRo, Onstad and Donovan.

Metros without Walker, Pope, Glen, Taylor, Guevera and maybe some other people I can't think of.

Walker may be injured. Bad weekend to be injured.

    Dunivant may be available.

    Ekelund should be available.

Seems just like yesterday these same two teams played to a 5-5 wild one.

I think we're gonna walk this one!

We'll score 3 goals in the 1st half and the Metrosexuals will score 1 goal. Then after the Metros have their half time Wine and Cheese reception in the locker room they'll all bugger off to Santana Row for some light shopping and a makeover!

Naturally the Ref will call the game when the Metrosexuals are a no show for the 2nd half!

    ;)

I have a good feeling about this game. The team is starting to play consistently well; subs are starting to play like the subs of last year, where you could count on them to step on the field and the team wouldn't miss a beat. It's often talked about throughout the league by the players, coaches and writers that San Jose has a system and how it's hard to compete against that system; that it doesn't matter who plays, they just keep rolling along.

    I think we win 3 - 0. Don't know who scores; don't matter.

    Re: Quakes v. Metros, pre-game

According to Dylan, Ian Russell should be back for this match, and maybe even Roger Levesque (!).

Looks like Chris Brown, Todd Dunivant, Troy Dayak are all still out with injuries.

Jamil Walker wasn't mentioned, but the implication is that he won't be starting and may not play at all.

So, off teh top of my head (not the best place to find info) we've got:

Injured: Robinson, Roner, Dayak, Walker, Brown
    withnats: Donovan, Pwamme, Onstad

    Forwards: Ching
Midfielders: Mulrooney, Mullan, Corrales, Russell, Ekelund, Alvarez, Dombrowski
Defenders: Agoos, Cochrane, Hart, Waibel, Dunivant
    Keepers: Conway, Cronin

And there's a chance we could call up Levesque.

16 or 17 players available; and many of them could play at multiple positions. (Of course, Russell, Ekelund, and Dunnivant are returning from injury - and might not be able to play a full game.)

Am I forgetting anyone? (whatever happened to Lindon Picorelli ...sp??)

    Quakes 1 (Ching 17)
    Metros 0

will not be a pretty one....

    Line ups:

Given: Ching, Mulrooney, Mullan, Agoos, Cochrane, Conway, Corrales
    VERY likely: Hart, Ekelund (injured)
Likely: Russell (if 90 min okay)
Who knows: Dunnivant (if he can go 90 he'll start, otherwise, he'll probably come in as a sub), Waibel (depends on how ready Dunni is? where does Corrales play?), Alvarez (could we see him up top?), Dombrowski (in a sub-role?)

    I'm currently guessing:

    ----------Ching--Alvarez
    Russell--Eke--Mulrooney--Mullan
    Corrales--Agoos--Cochrane--Hart
    -------------Conway

The only thing new about this line-up is Alvarez up top. It also gives us Waibel and Todd as possible d-subs, and Tighe as a possible mid sub.

    Re: Quakes v. Metros, pre-game

Other line-up possibilities would be to play either Russell or Mullan with Ching (or to recall Levesque). Mullan supposedly switched up there against Canada, so perhaps that's Dom's preference. If so, we could play Hart in Mullan's role, and put Waibel on the right. Like this:

    -------Ching--Mullan
    Russell--Eke--Mulrooney--Hart
    Corrales--Agoos--Cochrane--Waibel
    -----------Conway

This seems like the MOST conservative line-up since we only have one young guy (Ryan) out there. Dom has shown to be a conservative guy - more so than Franky, so as much as I'd like to see line-up number 1, I give this one a good chance too.

(If Dunnivant is good to go 90, then we could also put Russell up top, Corrales left-mid, and Todd on the left.)

    I'd like to see:
    ------Ching----Mullan-----
    Alvarez--Ekelund--Mulrooney--Russell
    Hart-Agoos-Cochrane-Corrales
    -------- CRONIN------------

Anybody but "Wrong Way" Conway in goal. Hell, put Q in goal,
he couldn't screw it up any worse. Without Donovan and DeRo
our offense takes a huge hit. Without Onstad in goal, it's open season on the netting. This game will make the Canada match look good, expect an
    ugly game.

Why on earth is Corrales on the right and Hart on the left?!

Otherwise, ...okay. I'll go with it.

And despite the "mistakes", I'm happy with Conway in goal right now. I'd like to see Cronin before I replace Conway. And I'm still willing to give Conway another chance. Onstad has made more mistakes in a game than Conway did last time, so why not let him string a few games together. Maybe he'll give us a pleasant surprise. Throw Cronin out there for a few exhibition games before putting him on the field.

Tenywa Bonseu (Uganda) and Cornell Glen (Trinidad and Tobago) are already with their respective national teams ahead of World Cup qualifying, and Taylor (Jamaica), Ziadie (Jamaica), Amado Guevara (Honduras), Pope (USA) and Walker (USA) will join their countries ahead of next weekend's round of CONCACAF qualifiers. I'm with Roblar. Give Con Jonway another couple in goal. Every one of the evaluations has been based on his single appearance after a year in deep freeze. Give him a chance to thaw out.

This should be very interesting. I'm pressed to even think of what Metro's lineup will be for this one with so many missing. I would think their keeper will be the biggest issue. Is Magee still injured for them, too? (Hadn't noticed his name in the injury report.) They do still have Wolyniec, Vaca and Gaven. In my eyes, those are their most dangerous in this match. Galvan Rey is listed as "doubtful" with an injury.

I agree with the lineup that Beerking posted and I, too, would love to see what Cronin's got but I'm certain that will wait for another day. Conway will get the start.

I just hope our guys play that great brand of possession and quick ball movement that's won us 2 cups. Should be a lot of offense in this one.

    Quakes, 4-2.

    GO THE QUAKES!!!!**

Corrales on the left in place of Alvarez and Waibel at right D. Oh, and Conway in goal.

I missed last month's 5-all shootout... but I will be at Spartan tomorrow with the strongest players away on international duty. :(

Still having Ching and Mullan up front for the Quakes and Magee and Wolyniec up front for Metro should be rather interesting. Add the fact that Conway and Wells are replacing Onstad and Walker, respectively, in the nets could add a little extra drama to the proceedings.

I cannot wait for this game! Been too long since I've seen the Quakes play. I think it's going to be a fun game, and we're definitely going to come out on top.

    Book it:
    ----------Ching Mullan
    Corrales Ekelund Mulrooney Russell
Dunivant Agoos Cochrane Waibul (maybe Hart)
    ----------Conway

Dombrowski and Alvarez late, for Ekelund and Dunivant with Corrales sliding back to left back. Hart could sub in at right mid.
Quakes should rock 'em as Metros have more missing pieces and an inexperienced goalie. Plus, we're due for a win giving how well we're playing.
