According to this article the Quakes are planning to have a training match with the USMNT. Anyone know anything more about this? Time, date, etc.

It's probably during the week. Which means I won't be able to go. Unless it's that Friday!!!

So, anyone got more info? This should be interesting to see. Especially since Joey's coming home! :D

Cachundo posted in the USMNT v. Wales thread that the US National Team has a tentative scrimmage scheduled for 7 PM, Fri May 23 at Maloney Field (Stanford); presuming that's the one v. the Quakes?

Awesome! I hope so! Cuz then I'll be able to see it!

The Quakes will supposedly scrimmage with Stanford sometime in the next few weeks, according to that article.

Seems like Stanford is becoming the Earthquakes' farm team.

That's amazing .. I just got an e-mail that seems to be the Tremors from .. THE FUTURE!

Unfortunately there's nothing about MLS standings at that moment, but a post-scrimmage quote from Frank Yallop (San Jose Earthquakes - Stanford - 0:4)

"I definitely understand that Todd Dunivant still has a good memories and warm feelings about his time with Stanford, but scoring FOUR own goals in the first 20 minutes of the game, and wildly celebrating them - is not appropriate for a professional athlete...."

With the Quakes having about 5 of their players on the Nats side, who will be the 11 that play for the Quakes? Will the coaches have to play? :)

If Dayak is healthy the Quakes wont need any of the quakes with the nats to get a full 11:

    Walker-Mullan
    Alvarez-Lagos-Roner-Russel
    Dunivant-Robinson-Dayak-Waibel

That said Id imagine that all 5 of the quakes that are called in will play a half and half situation, where they switch teams. So say Goose, Mulrooney and Donovan open with the nats, then play for the quakes in the second, while Ching and Corrales open for the quakes 1st, then play with the nats in the second. Its a scrimage, so lots of options to make things work.

That man doesn't know when to stop to save his life! :(

He was in so much pain last night, that when I remarked that he hadn't taken his shirt off (as he always does), his response was he was in too much pain.

Please, for his sake, do not let that man play. Give him sometime to rest and get his knee better!

I'm afraid they'll have to get out the restraints and physically hold him down. As you say, he's the kind that will go until he drops.

I didnt say he SHOULD play, just that if he does play then they would have enough to field a team without anyone horribly out of position.

I heard the Quakes are playing the National Team on Friday at Stanford.

    There are two waysL
    1) To be called up to US National team
    2) To get a try-out with the Quakes

The second way seems to be easier than the first one.

This sucks! Why even let team members and administrators/staff tell the fans and media about this game if it was gonna be closed?

I just called. Got the same story. Was told that Bruce Arena was the one who said it has to be closed to the public. I guess we're not allowed to see the team train.

    This is stupid.

How can they stop us from hanging around outside Maloney Field and watching? It's a chain link fence. I'm still gonna go up there.
