According to the Columbus Dispatch: Games we know about: April 3 Thursday 7:30 PM, Los Angeles Galaxy April 12 Saturday 1:00 PM, Chicago Fire (@McAfee Coliseum in Oakland, CA) June 7 Saturday 4:30 PM, @Columbus Crew
I think it is kind of a slap in the face that MLS has the team opening on the road. - It just sucks. It appears they are just trying to get two good tv crowds at the expense of SJ fans.
Why? It's the team that requested it because A)Buck Shaw won't be ready until the second or third week of April, and B)Because they wanted to open in Oakland against a big team (ie: Chicago w/ Blanco or LA w/Beckham). The league accomodated them as best they could. Plus as an away game goes it's both the closest it gets to SJ and vs our biggest rival. I fail to see any problem. A slap in the face would have been us opening in Columbus or KC. And then having the home opener vs Dallas or something like that...
Nice to see that the Quakes get to play in Columbus in July while the Galaxatives' visit comes in wonderfully cold October!
