My Rant about the game F the Revs F the Ref F Franchino and especially F the most biased announcers that I have ever heard. I have always thought that the home announcers should be a little biased but these guys take the cake, they made Franchino out to be a Saint, and they went so far as to say that the league protects Landon and does not the same for Twellman. I guess they figure that twellman gets hurt a lot, hey can we help if if he is such a sissy. Hey man if you don't want to get hurt then don't throw your freaking body in there if you don't want to get hurt. These guys couldn't wash Landons jock. I loved getting those goals almost as much as watching this happen when we beat the Galaxy. The Revs have no heart, they rely on bully tactics, and Franchino is a Troll. Nuff said, Bobles
Don't think that 2nd goal should have counted, there was an offsides in the build up.. but hell, we shouldn't have even been in that situation. Class finishing by the Quakes late. Both sides get a point
I'd almost feel better if they had called DeRo's goal back for being offsides or something... rather than a foul that happened, what? 20 minutes earlier?! Thanks to Troy for getting us in the fighting mood. Go Quakes
Re: My Rant about the game I say F the refs too. But about your comment on Donovan, i believe what you said about him. Maybe I really did not care about Twellmen, but Landon keep on getting beat up and the refs would not call most of them. But I honestly Believe that the Earthquakes got screwed hard core. But they played a hell of a game, which is important. So, hats off to them.
I agree with you. After all the beating that the Quakes took, they still manage to get those goals in. What an exciting game.
Details! I missed the game. Was Troy's card really a straight red? What happened? The shots and corners were heavily in the Quakes favor. How is it they didn't score til so late? The second Rev goal was unassisted. Was there a mistake at the back? Bummer for all the folks that left early. Sounds like a great few minutes at the end.
A tie doesnt really cut it. Even a tie in this situation. We need to get 3 points at home, and are now back in last place. Nice effort in the comeback, but we simply cant keep giving points away by tieing at home.
Re: My Rant about the game I would defend the Revs and Twellman, but I'd be carded or yelled at for trolling. Let me know if you want me to do it, though.
Was the game televised? The reason I ask is it appeared to be Mullan who committed the foul, and the referee called the wrong Quake for the foul.
after the ref warned Franchino and Dayak about pushing in the box, Dayak through an elbow at Joesph. Deserved, and Dayak should get fined for his antics after the game, that was uncalled for, I'd be embarrassed for the people who were cheering him on. Speaking of fines, so should Donovan and Franchino. But the sad thing is this could have been prevented if the ref got a hold of the game early, and he didn't and thats what happened. and guess what, watching the replay Dero was offside on the last goal. But it doesn't matter, we choked, you guys capitalized, 1 point is fair for both.
I'm not embarrassed at all for cheering on Dayak. What do you care if a player takes advantage of an opportunity to do what he can to get the crowd crazy? Jesus...you want this to be like the No Fun League? Players are always taking advantage of situations to get the crowd louder, and I'm glad Troy showed his passion. This league lacks that a lot. I'm getting a little tired of how the league and everyone else tells the players how they can and can't celebrate or show passion. Good for Troy! It's good to see the passion. The crowd and team needed it.
and guess what...that goal that was called back should have been a goal. You don't call a foul in favor of a team after the goal has been scored. Granted, the linesman had his flag up, but the ref didn't call the foul so play goes on....goal scored....kick off. You don't have a pow-wow on the sideline for 3 minutes, call the goal back and give the team that just scored a free kick on a fould that wasn't called in the first place. And PLEASE don't tell me that the defenders thought the foul was going to be called simply because the linesman had his flag up. Sorry, but the linesman doesn't make the final call, and play continues until a whistle is blown. Basically, another piss poor performance by the refs. Is it just me, or are the refs starting to look like they did in the first season of MLS?
The coverage of the game on MLS wrap sucked too! They had a recording of cheering fans when they showed New England score a goal. There was no mention on how the ref lost control of the game and didn't even mention the hard work that the fans and the team gave to come back and tie it. I e-mailed them to tell them how out of touch their reporting is. All this bias is starting to tick me off!! We deserve more credit than were getting. WAY TO GO DAYAK!! I love a player with passion! Tell MLS wrap how inept their reporting is. mlswrap@foxsportsworld.com
These refs are killing the credibility of this league. Aren't there any standards to be on the field, and isn't there a minimum age? I think I might apply, what the heck, I couldn't do much worse.
The Quakes really needed a win, but at least a 2-2 tie is better than a 2-0 (or 2-1) loss. Kudos to Los Terremotos for at least grabbing a rare but risky opportunity: down two goals and down a man, they pretty much threw caution to the wind and went for it. Most teams usually play more defensively after going down a man, but the Boys in Blue basically had nothing to lose, as losing 3-0 wouldn't have been much different from losing 2-0. On the plus side, it seems that Brian Ching is finally drawing a following in the stands: there were a bunch of pretty Hawaiian young ladies sitting two or three rows behind me (cheering pretty hard every time Ching touched the ball). GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
The second goal was off a bad clear by Dunivant, I am sad to say. It was close in and he turned and cleared it low, straight in to two advancing Revs. I would like to know what happened on the first NE goal - I saw the cross from dep and right, and it looked like someone (Waibel?) gave his mark too much room, resulting in a header goal. Can someone from the south end give a report? And WTF with Dwayne's goal - was it really called back to give *us* a free kick?! That's what it looked like, and if so, un-freakin-believable. Didn't see what happened with Troy (you Northend regulars must have better eyes than I), so I can't comment on the card. Loved the shirt-twirling and yelling, could have done without the board-kicking. I do think his passion and indignation fueled the crowd and the team (egg/chicken). Why oh why do these guys have to get so far down before they perform to their potential? Are we not vocal enough fans (Casbah excluded)? Is it really about potential relocation? Possibly, but all of these guys have played in a variety of locations, and I have to think that just having an opportunity to play at this level, as your profession, is a sweet deal, no matter where it is. I would be disappointed in the guys if they weren't able to separate fan commitment from civic commitment, too. BondOne
That was a dreadful 90 minutes followed by a terrific stoppage, including the biggest and most powerful burst of crowd energy I've felt since the LA game last November. Two of the referees were simply awful, and that taking back the goal was just reprehensible. I wouldn't do that in a U8 game. John was practically riding Brian's shoulders much of the first half, and no one said boo to him. Instead, the center didn't do a thing until there were fights breaking out every minute. Our guys did NOT give up, though the beginning looked sloppy, and there were some terrific individual performances.
