From the Donovan article: ``It was just sad,'' said Donovan, who assisted on Dwayne DeRosario's goal. ``I've had good memories. The best memories I have of soccer have been made here. The people here have been very good to me.'' He hasn't yet, but it is pretty clear that he is going. So, what do you think? It's 2014, 32 year old Landon Donovan returns to the Quakes after a decade of success. Tony Amapour expands the Quakes Santa Clara home to 40,000 seats in anticipation of Donovan's return....
...and after kicking Brazil and Germany for another victory in the 2014 World Cup. Sounds great to me.
I just hope that if it does come to pass, Landon will leave with the feeling that this is still "home" to him. Then, some day when he's in the twilight of his career (or when MLS becomes financially competitive with the other world leagues,) he would want to return to SJ to finish out his brilliant career.
i'm kinda thinking maybe he'll come back when his loan is up, with his whole family and girlfriend situation, I don't think he can be that far away from them. At least thats what I'm hoping.
