Since winning the Cup and paying for my ‘04 tickets in advance I’ve kinda checked out from Quakes news for awhile and have been diverting my attention towards the 49ers and Seria A. Since were getting close to kick-off again I wanted to make sure I am completely up to date. Here’s what I’ve got so far… 1. Yallop left to go coach the Canadian MNT; Dominic Kinnear took over as head coach; & John Doyle took over as assistant coach. 2. General Manager Johnny Moore resigned and Alexi Lalas has filled that position. 3. Manny Lagos was traded for draft picks. 4. The Quakes had a good draft bringing in defensive help in Ryan Cochrane and another keeper in Steve Cronin. 5. AEG is looking to Club America or a US investor to buy the Earthquakes. 6. Ronnie Ecklund still has not signed a contract extension and might not play for San Jose next year. Is there anything else that I am missing? Have any other players left or come into the team? Will Agoos be with the Quakes next season? Let me know what’s up. Thanks y’all, Go Quakes & all that good stuff! The Brewer
6a. Ronnie Ekelund hasn't signed a contract extension yet either. 7. AEG's search for potential stadium sites around the South Bay has no doubt begun (if it hasn't been happening for a while already).       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Ronnie Ekelund is 'almost' signed. Quakes are optimistic about signing Agoos, but it doesn't seem as close as the Ekelund deal. Going back in time: Jamil Walker signed to a full contract. Josh Saunders is no longer on the roster. Apparantly was not offered a full contract. May yet be offered a developmental one, but that is unlikely with Onstad, Conway, and Cronin on the roster.
8. The Quakes are apparently redoing Brian Mullen's contract into a long term deal. 9. Landon Donovan is trying to get a winter loan to Portsmouth in the EPL but FIFA is causing problems by limiting his possible return dates. 10. Brian Ching is surfing in Hawaii to rehab his achilles but it still gives him periodic aches. 11. The Wee Man got Jamil Walker an opportunity to train with Celtic. 12. Troy Dayak determined his knee didn't need offseason surgery after all, as it recovered naturally. 13. Arturo Alvarez is finally recovering from a groin injury that hampered him for months. 14. Junior Agogo is directing porn movies in Belgium (just testing if you've read this far)
Starring, of course, Yves, although they are more akin to holy scripture than porn. Just more of Yves bringing happiness - and multiple orgasms - to the world.
6b. Ekelund has been re-signed to the Quakes. 8b. Mullan has been re-signed to a multi-year contract with the Quakes.
Season tickets Any word on the number of season tickets sold? Increase over last year? Marketing campaigns in the works? A little info needed for this out of town Quakes fan Thanks, Charles
The ticket rep I talked to said that "all in all" they expected to end up selling more than last year. I think he mentioned something about the Club America flap briefly slowing things down but my memory could be playing tricks on me.
Apparently Jeff Agoos got married during the off season & has signed a contract (don't know for how long) here's the bit from a quakemagic.com article "Goose Expected To Land Thursday Kinnear added that Quakes captain Jeff Agoos should arrive in time for training on Thursday. Agoos, who got married in the off-season, had his contract situation resolved only last week and had some loose ends to tie up before arriving in San Jose. “When you are moving a whole family out here as opposed to yourself, it takes a bit more time,” Kinnear told MAGIC. Kinnear added he has no doubts that Agoos will report in fine shape. “He’s a great professional,” added Kinnear. “I have no doubts he’ll be able to fit right in the first day.”"
An article in the Merc a week ago gave some information on the term. It's a contract for this year with three team option years tacked on. If he hits certain (undisclosed) thresholds this season, his contract is guaranteed for next season. After 2005, it appears to be at the team's discression.
