I also think they have a discovery option (I've read this somewhere), and even some cap space. I think a discovery option comes with a 75,000 something or another which doesn't apply against the cap.

Have the Quakes talked about using these luxuries? I would think they seriously need some depth at forward, especially considering Donovan will be missing a number of games in June and July. Also, a solid player at right back wouldn't hurt.

    Any news? Thoughts?

Doesn't the European transfer window to open in a month or so? I'd assume they are waiting until then to make a move.

I heard sometime back, (and I'm pretty sure J. Moore has made similar statements) that they were looking to add someone for the attacking third of the field. Wonder if there's something in the works from the time that Frankie spent in the UK. I've got to think that was more than just a glorified pub crawl.

I think they should scout Canadian goalkeepers.

    Sorry. It's Onstad Week.

I doubt it, the way Yallop has been doing things, I'm sure he's content with what he has, plus if this was the case, wouldn't they bring back Ariel?

I thought I read the Quakes had all of 3 position players on the bench last week. I can't believe the team could possibly be satisfied w/ their position right now.

Then again, San Jose NEVER fills out its allocations. Its been on-going joke for a number of years - ever since Eddie Lewis left the team.

I believe that Frank and Jonnie wanted to wait until May to decide. They would use the beginning of the season on learning where they need help. Initially, most of us were thinking defense. However, with the solid showing on defense and realization that Waibel is "serviceable", I think that an attacker will be signed (especially with DeResario's injury).

I'm hoping Frank learned his lesson from last year that having players moving around too much between positions because of USMNT commitment and injuries is just too tough on team chemistry and performance...

I believe there was a report from Soccer America that said the Quakes had less than $100K left to spend (total) on an player. Health is the main thing the Quakes need now.

It would also help if Bruce Arena would decide not to have a long training camp for the Nats before the Confed and Gold tournaments.

    Go Quakes
