    Everyone,

here are the details for Quake fans who are planning on being at the Toolbox (aka the Home Depot Center) to watch the Quakes play the Tools, I mean the Galaxy, on Wednesday, June 18.

This is taken from Pat Bernal's email to Club Quake members last night:

"Tickets for the game. You can order through Ticket Master and get a royal screwing with high prices and service charges, or I can buy our tickets at a group rate (15 or more tickets) at a reduced rate directly from the Galaxy and sit together and support the Quakes. Group rates are Sideline ($36 each) Corner ($22 each) Upper Deck ($18 each) or behind the Goal ($16 each). My recommendation would be the corner - section 105. You need to have your order to me by noon next Tuesday, May 27th."

So assuming that there will be at least 15 of us, we will get a group rate. Actually, we only need about 12 people for the group rate to beat the Ticketmaster price.

If you want to be in the group for these tickets and sit with other Quake fans, contact Pat by sending him email at "events@clubquake.org" by next Tuesday, May 27 at noon. We will work out details of how you will get money to him and how he will get the tickets to you.

Here are more details about the travel arrangements. The travel arrangements are mostly up to the individuals who are travelling -- since we have jobs, most of us are not taking two full days off from work to drive down and drive back.

"The Stadium is 12 miles from both the Long Beach or LAX airports. There is plenty of parking, don't know what the parking fee is, but I would guess it is $10/car. The stadium in located in Carson California, at Victoria and Avalon. The New Home Depot Stadium was built for people who love soccer and is run by a-holes who hate fans, there will be no tailgating or drinking in their parking lots.

Hotels - The Team hotel is the Torrance Marriott (five miles from the stadium) The MLS rate for week nights is $99 per room. The weekend rate is $79/night. Rooms come with either two queen size beds or one king. Hotel has indoor/outdoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, and exercise room. The Torrance Marriott is located next to Torrance Mall at 3635 Fashion Way. It has a very large sports bar, and is surrounded by a bunch of restaurants, fast-food joints, bars and other hotels and motels if you don't like the Marriott.

Airfare from SJC to LAX is $39 each way on Southwest Airlines. JetBlue from Oakland to Long Beach Airport is $29 each way. It appears the latest you can leave the bay area and make the game is about 3:50 PM. It appears there are no return flights on these airlines until 7:15 AM the next morning.

Details about Car Rentals or Shuttle Services can be discussed once I get an idea of how many people are interested in going. Don't wait, if you're interested, contact me immediately."

So there it is. Contact Pat via email at events@clubquake.org with your ticket requests, and discuss your travel plans with other Quake fans to organize hotels and rental cars, or make arrangements to stay with friends or family or whatever.

It figures that the galaxatives would find some way to screw up a nice stadium:mad: This just proves that they don't deserve it. Idiots.

It's not the Galaxy's fault, and the Galaxy fans are more upset about this than anyone else. I almost feel sorry for them, but then I remember that they're Galaxy fans.

The stadium is built on a college campus and the campus rules for Cal State Dominguez Hills are, no alcohol except in designated areas. Inside the stadium, alcohol is allowed and it will be sold (probably Bud at outrageous prices), but in the parking lots, no.

Of course, compare and contrast with Spartan Stadium, on the San Jose State campus, where we can drink all we want. Ha ha, sucks to go to CSUDH.

Grills are not being allowed in the parking lots due to a "fire hazard", which is weak. Weak weak weak.

The LA fans will test the enforcement of these policies when the first game comes in a couple of weeks. We'll see.

So, FYI, I just got my flights. I still can't believe how cheap it is to fly on JetBlue -- $73.50 round trip.

JetBlue flight 249, departing Oakland at 1:20 PM, arriving Long Beach at 2:40 PM on June 18

JetBlue flight 242, departing Long Beach at 7:25 AM, arrivign Oakland at 8:45 AM on June 19

Yeah, it's an overnight stay. JetBlue doesn't have any flights back which are late enough to return after the game on Wednesday night. Neither does SouthWest. I think it would be difficult to get from the stadium to any airport in time for a late flight, so if you are flying, you should plan on staying the night somewhere. No, you can't stay at my parents' house.

Oh boy....Bill staggering in after hours drunk as a skunk into his parents house stumbling over furniture, stepping on the cat's tail, only to pass out, snorring loudly in his Speed Racer Mach V racing bed. It will be just like when bill was in elementary school......except he drinks a better quality beer now. :D

Good luck to them. What a bunch of BS. No need to respect the rules, especially when they're dumb rules.

Wrong - at this point we will take pity where ever we can get it.

Did you end up getting section 105 group seats? If so, they should be pretty good. Last week season ticket holders were invited to go to the stadium and pick up their tickets and go inside for the first time. Sections 104-105-106 were the only sections that were open, so I have actually sat in some of the Sec. 105 seats, and I think you will be happy with them when you arrive. I took some digital pictures from those seats and if one of you wants to PM me with an e-mail address, I will send them along so you can post them (if you want to).

Tailgating rules are a bummer. The team is aware of the dissatisfaction on the part of fans and is trying to work out something with the school.

Hope to meet some of you there.

Now if we can ever get a team that is worthy of the venue ....

Thanks for that Wolves. Is that Sigi I see floating over the stadium? Hope the helium holds out. You guys aren't using hydrogen, are you?

    Toolbox balcony

An FYI to folks going down. The second tier - across from the press boxes- must be some of the best seats in the place. If you can get seats down low in that balcony level you'll feel like you're right atop the game.

Plus they're cheap and have some kind of aluminum flooring that generates a ton of noise.

If you bought tix in the South east end of the balcony, you would be hanging over the Riot Squad. Hmmm....

Actually hydrogen got a bad rap in that disaster in NJ. It was actually static electricity combined with the "explosive" type of paint used on the blimb that made the fire spread as you saw. We use helium for Sigi, however, just like NY/NJ uses with Clint.
