Recently QPR had a fans forum, the Simek loan was very briefly touched on, it's on QPR World if anyone has access to it,the only text link I know of that mentions part of the Holloway comment is here: http://queensparkrangers.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=925&p=2&stid=8366873 In a shell of nuts, QPR manager Ian Holloway said Frankie was a good kid, has a good future ahead of him, but lacked size, strength, and experience, that the big games were a bit much for him, that QPR needed "someone else" which was I'm assuming an explanation as to why QPR didnt try to extend the loan. That's VERY much a paraphrase, sorry I cant get the exact quote. Holloway only spoke on the subject for 30 seconds or so within a 2 hour fan forum.
Sounds like they took the wrong YA on loan, paging Mr Onyewu, please pick uo the White courtesy phone.....
TO be fair to QPR, they were in desparatre straits when they pulled off the SImek loan, it all happened in the span of about a day or so when several QPR defenders went down injured, and they may not have had the chance to be all that choosy. Not many clubs nowadays are letting their players go out on loan so it was probably a case of Simek being the only decent defender QPR could get at the time. He played well, was well liked, for the record Holloway also said earlier that he thought Simek was really better suited as a right back, his comments about size/strength etc were more attributed to his qualities as a central defender which was what QPR needed at the time. But Frankie really only has reserve team exprience thus far, im not sure what everyone is expecting of him. The loan to QPR will undoubtedly help his development.
It's sad that we even have to worry about our RB position. If only Arena would take his head out of his rear and play Cherundolo.
Not to turn this into a Nats thread, but he has played him there before. It didn't work out too well. Having said that,I'm sure we'll see him in the Hex.
Too bad that Arena can't get the image of Dolo with his head stuck in the rear of some mediocre CONCACAF attacker in a critical WCQ. Sorry for continuing the "thread jacking."
