    Rangers News:

Marcus Bignot returns to Rangers from Rushden and BBC is reporting that he'll likely start at right back for Forbes, who is unavailable. Bircham is out (suspension and injury). Padula is out injured. Do we go with an Edghill, Gnohere, Carlisle, Bignot backline? Oddly, just one of those guys was on our roster at the beginning of the season.

    The Opponent:

Luton is just goal difference out of a play-off spot, but has a game in hand on their closest rivals. They just picked up Paul Underwood in Rushden's clear-out and he could enter their squad. According to the BBC, "Chris Coyne (ankle), Kevin Foley (leg), Russell Perrett (calf) and Adrian Forbes (knee) are all major doubts." Their own site lists Coyne and Steve Howard as doubts.

Luton is coming off of a 1-1 home draw with Plymouth and is 2-2-2 in their last six.

    The First Meeting:

It was 1-1 in Luton on 20 September. After Rangers fell behind through a 60th minute Hatters goal, former Hatter Tony Thorpe fed Paul Furlong who scored deep into injury time for the equalizer.

    The Series:

    Rangers lead 34-29-26.

    The Referee:

Andy D'Urso gets the call. We've got a "big timer" this weekend -- this season, he's worked 16 Premiership matches, 2 Division One, 1 Division Three, 1 FA Cup, and 1 League Cup match. He's issued 68 yellows and 6 reds. He worked Aston Villa-Blackburn last weekend.

Finishes 1-1, Furlong with the QPR goal, though he missed a good chance late in the 2nd half which would have won the game.

Not what we're looking for, but Bristol City lost again so now we're 3 points up with a gama in hand with 8 to go. Still very much in control of our destiny. A win next week wont seal it but it'll give us bigtime breathing room.

Frustrating afternoon, although most at Loftus Road were alright afterwards upon finding out the Bristol City result. For me, these are matches we just have to win in the run in. Luton were up for this, and not a poor team, but we should have killed the game off in the early portion of the 2nd half.

Not much else to say on this one. Marcus Bignot did pretty well in his re-debut, especially considering he walked straight into the line-up. Some similar worries as previous weeks - struggling for pace at the back. Now we're lacking Forbes ability to help defend counter attacks.

On to a HUGE match in Bristol. If we can get a point there than we are well on track. Should be a wild weekend - I'm heading out there friday.

Not a bad result against a team in the thick of the play-off hunt. Three point lead, game in hand, large edge in goal difference -- there are worse places to be. One point next weekend would clearly be huge.
Just a bit of poking around the internet. Soccerbase.com is great for stats on players, referees, and all-time series records. Football-league.co.uk gives info on the referee assignments.

Thanks for the report. Glad you'll be able to get up to Bristol next weekend! Should be a great atmosphere.
