14,964 at Lofus Road. Thought there would be more. Not sure how many Barnsley brought.

After the red, the R's brought Alberti on for Ledesma and Barnsley made two final subs to try to salvage something with 10 men.

82:30 Substitution Barnsley substitution: Bobby Hassell replaced by Diego Leon (tactical).

82:30 Substitution Barnsley substitution: Jonathan Macken replaced by Kayode Odejayi (tactical).

82:30 Substitution QPR substitution: Emmanuel Jorge Ledesma replaced by Matteo Alberti (tactical).

Delaney with a nice move after overlapping Cook, but his cross couldn't quite find Blackstock.

Hume can't hold possession in the box as he's surrounded by R's defenders.

Cook nicely holding possession as the clock runs out. Nice passing between Cookie and Leigertwood. Running out the clock now. 1:30 to go.

Fitz Hall with a nice tackle to end a Barnsley challenge. Into the final minute of stoppage.

Hall is down, Barnsley doesn't play it out. After it goes out in the run of play, the referee stopped play for Hall to get treatment. He's being helped off. Hall has words with Hume on the way off. R's down to 10 for the final seconds. Barnsley throws it in, Blackstock heads it away to Alberti. Final whistle!

    Elsewhere...

Nice welcome back to the Championship for Derby -- they lost 0-1 at home to Doncaster, who hasn't played at this level for 50 years.

Bristol City won at Blackpool with a goal in the 90th minute.

Nice start for Dagenham & Redbridge after a 20th place finish in League Two last year in their first year in the Football League -- a 6-0 win against Chester City.

He didn't have too many touches, but the commentator said he'd made a nice move past a defender when he was brought down, resulting in a straight red. There was no indication that he suffered any ill effects from that tackle. The highlights will be up on Monday. I'll post here if they show anything of note from Perejo.

Here's what the QPR official site said about Parejo in its match report:

Who is our best penalty taker? (on the field at that time, and overall?)

I don't know, but it's rarely a center back. I assumed Blackstock would take it, since he did so in the Chievo friendly and he earned this penalty. Otherwise, I'd have expected Cook, Ledesma, or Agyemang (or even Leigertwood) before Hall.

Forest and Reading drew 0-0 today.

Overall, 9 games ended with a winner and 3 with a draw. So, 9 teams have 3 points, 6 teams have 1, and 9 teams have 0.

And Atouk apologizes for his condescending "it's rarely a center back" comment to my innocent question...as though I've never seen a match before!
    ;)

True (and useless) story: I was sweeper in HS, and was 3-3 on penalties my junior year. So, coach made me the #1 penalty taker for my senior season.
I practiced ALL SUMMER. It got to the point where I could pick out the upper left corner of the goal with the outside of my left foot.
So, that's what I tried, for our first penalty of the season.
I stubbed my toe, and the ball rolled slowly to the keeper.
Thus ended my glorious reign as sweeper/PK dude. :D

 I didn't mean it like that. Just meant that I don't know who was designated to take it, but (I wrongly believed) it sure can't be Hall!

I (like probably nearly everyone at Loftus Road) assumed they let him take it so he could get a hattick.

    Ouch!

    UUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRss!

Sorry I missed out on following here, was up in Cohicago for the weekend. Back in my usual spot this Saturday (and Tuesday) ;)

Now, some press on Saturday's match. I think that we'll see this as a running theme this season, snarky 'ho hum' appraisals of things at Loftus Road. The big money behind the club will erase much of the good will, but hey, what are you going to do?

Perejo was a second half sub.

    No Rowlands.

    No Buzsaky.

    No Vine.

It's true we haven't added anything new up front, but our captain, last year's best midfielder, and last year's most consistent striker aren't even available yet.

It wasn't a convincing performance, but we'll have quite a bit of quality going forward if we get Parejo, Buzsaky, Cook, and Ledesma on the pitch at the same time. Whether Agyemang, Blackstock, and Vine will be able to turn that into goals is another question. I expect we'll see which, if any, of those three thrive with this quality midfield and we'll replace whichever ones aren't getting the job done by January.

Well the press won't let facts get in the way! I agree that our midfield has a lot more quality to be added. That and the team will need to gel, with a first eleven emerging after the injuries and suspensions. That's Dowie's biggest job this season, making sure he can get an interesting mix of players together into a cohesive 11. It's a long season and we've already 3 points in the bag - how long was it before we could say that last season!

Random question, Atouk might know... when does the (QPR) World Championship Review video get posted after each round of matches? Looks like Setanta is lowering their highlights of League matches - so I'd like to see them all every week.

I'm not sure. The new one isn't up yet. In a quick look back at the March-May ones from last season, I see that many are dated Monday, but some are dated Tuesday.
