Moved currently stalled over wage demands.

"“We’ve made contact with Ajax but that’s dragged on a bit. Personal terms have been a problem. We’ve agreed a fee with the club and it’s just been difficult getting personal terms agreed with the player. We can’t afford to throw crazy money at people." -- Redknapp

QPR has signed 22-year-old central defender Steven Caulker from Cardiff City on a 4-year deal. He came up through Spurs, was loaned to Swansea City in 2011/12, played at Spurs in 2012/13, was sold to Cardiff last summer, but was looking to stay in the Premier League after their relegation.

We needed some youth in the defensive mix and this fits the bill nicely -- a highly-rated 22-year-old who has played in the Premier League the last three seasons and has earned an England cap (and played for the GB team in the 2012 Olympics). Nice get.

Let's hope we stay up so he doesn't have to move on again! :)

Liverpool didn't like Remy's medical, so backed out at the last moment.

“I don’t see how he has failed a medical. He had a stringent one here, at Marseille, Newcastle and with the France team before the World Cup and never had a problem.I don’t see an issue. He’s never failed a medical so there must be other reasons. That’s not possible because you couldn’t meet a fitter lad. Maybe they’ve changed their mind or decided to move in another direction.Their loss is my gain. I’m disappointed for the boy but from my point of view I've got a great striker here. He’s capable of getting 20 goals and is one of the best in the Premier League.” -- Redknapp

Good move with Granero - glad he showed himself well in San Sebastian last season. Not sure what's going to happen with Remy. Maybe the failed medical will inspire him to show himself well at HQ til January? Or perhaps a continental club will look to make a lower risk loan offer?

It would seem we would not want to loan him out. If the papers are correct, we're holding clubs outside the Top 4 and outside the Top 6 to a higher valuation, something like £12.5m, and the only reason they were letting him go to Liverpool for £8.5 was the particular clause in his deal that this offer triggered. Given the importance to our finances of staying in this division, it would seem like they wouldn't let him go for less than the buy-out claus(es) in his contract and I see no reason to let him go on loan now that we're in the top tier.

Watford's “Troy Deeney is a player we are interested in, but there is nothing happening at the moment, and I don't know if we will pursue it or not. We will have to see what happens with Remy, and we need to know whether he's staying or not as we can't have just two strikers, and we can't be suddenly losing him on transfer deadline day. We have to make sure we're prepared. If he's staying, we need to get Remy fit, and we've still got two weeks to do that." -- Redknapp

Adel Taarabt is not fit, but is potentially still welcome at Loftus Road.

"The first day back training he wasn’t fit and hasn’t been fit to train since. Then he said he was going to Milan last week. He hasn’t gone so what we need to do with him is get him fit. He’s got to train morning, noon and night really, whether he stays here or goes somewhere else. I’ve got a lot of time for Adel. He needs to get himself in shape, like the other lads have done. If he does that he will be a great asset to us I’m sure." -- Redknapp

Apparently, Mauricio Isla from Juventus will be joining QPR shortly. He's a right back, so he is either cover for Simpson, or ahead of him on the pecking order. I don't know much about him, but he is supposed to be having a medical on Tuesday and then its all systems go.

Also, there is a lot of chatter that we are about to sign Jordan Mutch from Cardiff. He is a young midfielder (only 22), scored 7 goals last year. That seems like something to get excited about if its true and if we can get over the finish line with the transfer. The media seem to think we offered 5 million but it wasn't enough so 'arry is going back with another offer.

I would love it if Remy came back. I know he is supposed to be coming back to the club this week and will be joining the lads in Ireland. But if he stayed, that would be a huge boost to our survival chances. Lets say he is with around 15 goals and Charlie another 10-12. That'd be huge. I think we need two new strikers at the moment and at least one more midfielder. If Remy comes back and we get Mutch, then we just need a back-up striker in case of injury or suspension.

The Mail says "Benfica have completed the signing of of Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar on a two-year deal from QPR."

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...fica-permanent-deal-two-torrid-years-QPR.html

I hope so. Looks like we might not get a fee, but getting his wages off the books is probably as much good news as we could hope for on that front.

The Guardian reports that we're close to getting two more players in.

"Queens Park Rangers are closing in on two signings with Eduardo Vargas due to have a medical on Wednesday in readiness for a season-long loan from Napoli, following the Norwich City midfielder Leroy Fer’s medical on Tuesday morning before a £7m transfer."

24-year-old Dutch midfielder Fer "is believed to be close to a move for a fee in the region of £7m from Norwich."

Vargas, a striker from Chile, "has attracted interest from across Europe after a fine World Cup, but QPR are believed to have won the race to his signature. It is understood he will join on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move."
