QPR Summer 2014 Transfer News/Rumours Thread

I'll start with news of a possible non-transfer. Will Esteban Granero return to Loftus Road in 14/15? Nedum Onuoha indicates that Granero would like to return and Onuoha would welcome it.

Granero is certainly the type of player more suited to the Premier League than the Championship. And, if we are not able to sell him this summer due to his recent injury situation (his loan to Real Sociedad was cut short in September due to a knee injury, but he is said to be healthy now), it probably makes sense to plan to have him in the squad. He's a quality player and we have to pay his high wages anyway. He could add strength to the midfield and allow us to spend money elsewhere (up front, in particular) where it's more urgently needed.

2014/15 will be year 3 of a 4-year deal that Granero signed in August 2012.

Ali Faurlin has signed a one-year deal to remain at QPR, while Armand Traore has signed a two-year deal.

Rumors says Julio Cesar may be going to Benfica. Getting his wages off the books would be great news for the R's.

Looks like the Ferdinand deal may happen.

The Mirror reports that Remy's buyout clause is £8.5m for a top four side and £11m for 5th & 6th placed teams and that we're asking £15m for teams outside the top six. If we hold to that, it makes it very difficult for Newcastle to buy him.

Reports I've seen indicated that Arsenal is willing to pay the £8.5m, but don't want to match his current wages.

This article says "Teams outside the top six, including West Ham and Newcastle, are being asked to pay a whopping £15m for Remy. On top of that, the striker - currently on holiday - is asking for wages of £80,000-90,000-a-week and is not willing to take a pay cut."

Does it sound increasingly likely that we'll have Remy at least until the January window?

The article also talks about the potential salary situation for Ferdinand:

"Ferdinand, who picked up around £200,000-a-week before being released by United last month, is set to earn a basic salary of £30,000-40,000-a-week, with a bonus on top based on appearances and starts."

If true, that's much more reasonable than I feared.

 

Samba Diakite, now entering the 3rd year of a 4-year contract, has gone on a full-season loan to Al Ittihad (Saudi Arabia).
