i still can't believe those two red cards weren't called on Canada in the first 15 minutes. That was really bad officiating.

Meh, France avoided red in the 2nd half with a terrible tackle on Beckie. But there's no question Buchanan is cavalier.

Then why don't you go back to the US-SWE thread to defend that mug Hope Solo and speak of "soccer purity" like a naive clown who's never seen defending to counter attack before. All Canada and Sweden did was expose USA and France for lack of finish and ideas. Hell, France created nothing, Canada made the best chance and scored with it. And it's not like USA-SWE was 0-0 Sweden scored in open play...I'm not sure what the issue is...some really sore losers.

If a team is invited to play in the opposition half and cannot win, to me that is just as maddening/unwatchable.

Buchanan should have been ejected in the 5th minute. that was a straight up red in the box.

and don't confuse Hope with the public or the team. she's a hot head. i don't care she said it, men say it all the time. it's not a big deal. Sweden played exactly how they should, it still is borish. at least be aware enough, such as Pia is, to acknowledge it.

So when Celtic beat Barcelona are Celtic also cowards? I think I've plainly acknowledged their tactics, whereas you seem to be under the same bratty delusion as Hope Solo, who is upset that their opponent didn't play how you wanted them too.....like I said, naive.

bla Bla Bla. Who cares what Hope said. Look up some of the shit the Canadian team says. Hope also never punched players in the face. Swdens and Canada played really smart and countered. They don't have the personnel and talent to play possession style and win against France or USA. The USA has done this tactic as well in the past. Pia loved to do it. And USA fans were critical. Don't get all butt hurt but also. Stop being delusional.

Please quote some of that shit. Seems all sour grapes to me.
What I do agree with is your statement "Swdens and Canada played really smart and countered. They don't have the personnel and talent to play possession style and win against France or USA. " I coached for many, many years (in a different sport) and most years we did not have the talent level to take on the best team head to head, but you know what sometimes we beat them. It is called coaching, having a strategy and having your players buy into it and execute it. It is really arrogant of the better talented team to expect that the other less talented team will just play into their strengths. Ms. Solo is an idiot, she portrays the ugly American very well, but I do not believe that she represents the players of the US team who I consider quite classy.

I was referring to a comment which John Herdman made in an interview a year or two ago.
He said something to the effect that he was trying to find more dual-citizen women soccer players in America who could play for team Canada.

it's about equal, I'm sure there's more but off hand, Canadian born Sydney Leraux & u17 gk Devon Kerr went on to play for the US(Kerr switching to u20), while Beckie & Lauren Sesselmann had Canadian dads but were born & raised in the states.
Herdmann benefited from Caribbean countries; for instance, both Buchanan & Lawrence are Jamaican(don't know the back story if Herdmann actually recruited them or their families just immigrated) Canada is still a victory for the North American system of growing up playing select & college ball. The difference is that Herdmann wasn't afraid to recruit new players, where as Ellis played the same good ole girls squad even though they don't have good stats in the current NWSL season(Morgan with 2 goals, Dunn & Lloyd with zero, though Lloyd didn't even want to return to her Dash team after a slight injury)

Too many allegations without specifics... Seems like you're just trying to sling mud around because the USA lost.

Other than our native people, Canada like the USA is a country of immigrants. Canada since the mid-1970's have had a lot of immigrants from the Caribbean countries, especially Jamaica. Many settled and live in or around Toronto. FYI Buchanan and Lawrence are not Jamaican as they were both born in Toronto and raised just outside of Toronto. Same with Rose and Prince who were also born just outside of Toronto. All have been playing in the CDN youth program since they were 14-15 years old. So it is not like John had to recruit them or their families to come to Canada and play soccer.

Both of Beckie's parents were born in Saskatchewan. It was a good move for her to decide to play for Canada as she was kind of getting buried in the US program. Nothing really new to that, as you noted two cases of CDN players who decided for their own reasons to play for the US.

Like you said, it is really encouraging for CDN as the younger players are now starting to pay off. John made a huge commitment to bring these young players up to the main squad asap (Fleming is still just 18). John took a lot of heat from some experts on this forum and elsewhere for deciding to just play the young kids plus Labbe at last year's Pan Am Games in Toronto. They really are now making an impact with the main team. Go CDN Go!!!

Oh you don't even follow soccer do you?
Sinclair was suspended. They trashed talked on national tv threatened them and trancredi stepped on lloyds head and punched Abby. And the coaches slang all sorts of accusations. Classless dbags, half the team and the coach. At least we only have 1 person like that on our team. It is fun for soccer tho.

Why would Herdman need to recruit players from Jamaica - a country not on map in terms of women's football. As terrysoccer noted, they were born in Canada and developed through the Canadian system. Herdman did switch Buchanan from striker to central back and Lawrence from midfield to the backline & midfield.

He has also implemented the Excel program to make up for the huge deficiencies in the Canadian youth system. Playing select has shown it isn't good enough at consistently producing national team calibre players especially in terms of technical skills and football iq.. That's why Herdman was looking at dual citizen US players for the WWC15 since he saw the cupboard was bare.

Good grief, citing Sinclair? She is one of the most classy players in the world in terms of character, and I bet almost the entire US squad would agree.

Sinclair was suspended for blasting the ref post USA match at London 2012 which typically comes with a suspension. So, nothing really unusual here especially since the ref was deemed by consensus globally ex US to have made a number of wrong decisions and hasn't reffed a match since then and eventually retired.

Tancredi's stepping is basically only brought up by Americans. It doesn't register with most others. From my view, it is hard to tell if it was deliberate or just an accident. If it was deliberate, it wasn't a stomp as some Americans overplay it.

In terms of class, I'm not aware of anybody on Canada's team that has been charged by the police. I don't think anyone has tossed baseless racist accusations like someone from the US on twitter. I know some - even in Canada - don't like Herdman but given he is a paid motivational speaker, his corporate happy talk can rub some the wrong way.

If you look at reactions of Solo's latest statement, Americans don't think she is the only classless women on the team - especially if you move out of the USWNT social media bubble. But if you check the twitter feed during Canada's matches, there is very little cynical commentary about any player.

I was actually very specific. Yea Sinclair is great I agree she still has motored her mouth off on more than one occasion like total poor baby loser. I even forgot about all the racist chants and comments by canuk fans AND press toward syd. 100 times worse than saying "coward". Y'all are cray.

    1. USA/Can 2012 semi is widely considered a screw job, you are comparing this to ‘Swedish tactics’. What??

    2. Sinclair’s criticism, while deserving of the minor punishment she got, was still understandable and delivered in a level manner considering the situation. Hope Solo was flat out crying like an entitled bitch over literally nothing… an opponents clean game-plan and formation. She is a discredit to the game.

    3. You want to talk about crying, let’s remember Wambach whining and intimidating the Norwegian official

    4. Again, you are making generalizations about fans based on COMPLETE SPECULATION by Sydney Leroux who was probably just in a tizzy about being called a traitor. Canada is factually more tolerant than USA, if it actually happened on any scale there would be video. You are trying to equate these hypothetical fans to one of the most visible female pro athletes on the planet. Makes no sense.

I have no doubt that some total idiots made some racists comments. Sydney said they occurred on twitter/email leading up to that game and that is what she was reacting to. The problem when something like this stupid happens, is to over generalize. I could not care what colour her skin is or that she chose to play for the US team. At the time CDN's soccer programs were a total mess, so I can understand. I do not like her because I think that sometimes she acts like a bit of a jerk. Hey just my opinion. You may think differently. What she did after the goal was a bit much so she should have expected many boos. Any racist or homophobic comments made by spectators anywhere should never be tolerated.

It is concerning that some of the Olympic crowds have also acted inappropriately. After the CDN-AUS game the head coaches were asked to respond to inappropriate comments made by the spectators. The AUS coach said that it was not his place to comment on BRA spectator behaviour. John answered very strongly that these comments have no place in soccer anywhere. I think that gives you a good idea on where the CDN team stands. My last comment re. Sydney is can we move on. She is not very relevant anymore at this point. It is like arguing for another decade about what happened in 2012. Right now I chose to enjoy 2016 and the success that our team has had so far. Go CDN Go!!!

HAHA you guys have got to be kidding me, I like how you transitioned from actual fans in the stands to online trolls :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:...newsflash, the internet doesn't count, thousands of derogatory comments get directed toward celebs and athletes every day online.

All you hear in the video is an F-bomb and booing, get real. You have no argument. Hope Solo is a disgraced little baby, end of. Your distractions are not working, but by all means keep crying

Alright, this is getting rediculous. You hate Canada, the coach and the team. I get it. As far as I'm concerned you and Hope are two peas in a pod.
