  1. New Unis on Fire Site

Did anyone else notice the pics of the Fire-DC game on the Fire web site today? The new unis are different than previously shown. HONDA on the chest. No Fire or Chicago, only a badge. And the shoulder stripes go all the way down the side of the uniform. Also, white pants with red tops like Arsenal. I really like them better, more of a European look.

jay heaps would be much easier to stomp in a pair of platforms.

  11. Is it just me, or are the practice jerseys way cooler than our regular game jerseys? We should be able to buy these like you can buy the USMNT practice jerseys.

eh i like the practice jersey a whole lot more. My favorite jersey so far that I saw of an MLS team would be Colorado's new black and blue stripe jersey (away jersey i think)

I'm glad those practice uniforms aren't our real ones.

Nothing looks cheaper than a pair of solid white shorts with a designed uniform top.

I REALLY like those jerseys. They need red shorts, but the jerseys are unbelievably sharp.

Why would a shirt that says "Honda" across the front of it be preferable to one that says "Chicago"?

  18. Personally, I prefer white shorts and socks with a red top. I guess the fact that I am an Arsenal fan may have something to do with it. As far as the HONDA instead of Fire on the front, Every country in the world has with sponsors on the front and a team badge except the US, Barcelona, an Real Madrid. I like that more. It also offers the opportunity to change sponsors every few years adn sell more gear.

I have a problem buying a jersey with big letters of a corporation on it. I'm not paying good money for something to give free advertising to a corporation.

They're paying your club a considerable amount of money for that logo being on the shirt.

Totally agree. We're not every other country. Corporate sponsorship of clubs/teams, while an unfortunate fact of life, is invasive enough already. And while I appreciate the companies that spend money to promote soccer here, and will go out of my way to buy their product before a competitor's, I support "CHICAGO" - not Honda.

    Blech.

They aren't actually. They're paying the league, and they're paying for the spots on the sleeve and back under the number, not the front.

I really don't know why so many people are hot to have our name on the front replaced with a sponsor's. Or to ditch the white chest stripe we've had since the club started, for that matter.

I'm all for red shorts with our road jersey, but at home we're all-red with a white chest strip. I don't see why that should change, it's our identity.

One of the good things about MLS jerseys has been the lack of sponsor advertising on the front. It just looks like crap -- even for teams I follow across the pond. Keep 'em off the front! It looks minor league.

It's also difficult for US fans who have are used to being able to visually identify a team by their jersey, to achieve that level of comfort unless they're already soccer fans. It would be detrimental to making more people fans of soccer in this country if the team or city identifier were removed in favor of a sponsor logo.

To the adults in this crowd, two ads from our new sponsor:

I've never actually seen these in a magazine, but I just saw them posted elsewhere. A little, um, extreme perhaps. But go Fire none the less.
