Well, what have you heard? I was wondering if something was up with the uniforms - especially since they're giving away red or white jerseys with season ticket renewals "while supplies last." I wonder if they're changing things for next year. Is that what you've heard?
i have not heard much just rumors that nike is gonna be our sponser and we are getting new uniforms with nike logos
Might explain why the Nike Factory Outlet in Kenosha was selling Fire red jersey's for $20 a few weeks ago. I did get one and they had some left the following weekend when I was back to work at a triathlon. I hate Nike.
Fire jerseys are on closeout EVERYWHERE. They're giving them away as fast as humanly possible. There are only three reasons you have a jersey stock liquidation (really two): - One, the team is going/has gone out of business or is moving (not likely) - Two, the team is producing a new jersey design for next season - Three, the team's supplier is changing Are the rest of the MLS Nike teams giving away their jerseys or are they being sold in area stores at slashed prices? Also, Nike typically doesn't reduce MSRP on things like replica jerseys until the new design is released. that said, the Nike jersey we wear IS three years old. Also, word is Nike has already submitted designs for the Fire jerseys for next season. Do your own research and draw your own conclusions.
uniforms According to the MLS Confidential, one of the Soccer America newsletters, that I just received, Nike is being forced by the league to drop one of sponsorships, and that will be the Fire. Puma is rumored to be the replacement. PW gives no comment. (Sorry not to post what I received - copyright issues)
Re: uniforms As long as it's cited as Soccer America's MLS Confidential, it's ok to post relevant excerpts. Has been in the past at least. From SA's MLS Confidential, 29 August
Re: Re: uniforms Colorado changing suppliers? Just when Kappa gets the chance to actually change their colors? Seems pretty damn unlikely to me.
uniforms Here's their legalese: MLS CONFIDENTIAL is a benefit for subscribers of Soccer America Magazine. As a subscriber you have permission to forward MLS CONFIDENTIAL to your soccer friends in its entirety. However only subscribers may register for regular delivery. Reposting or reprinting of any portion is not allowed. It's the sentance in bold that made me post the way I did. Back to the real subject, I suppose I wouldn't mind a change to the road uni - I've never cared for the font used for "Chicago", but please, no changes to the home strip. What does everyone else think?
Ah, we never cease to be the bastard childs of Nike and MLS. Maybe we will have sleave-less shirts like Cameroon. Dear god, I hope not. I wish we could get Adidas or Umbro. If San Jose gets a new one here is my idea of it's look: If the Fire kept Nike, here was my prediction: Maybe this means the Fire will FINALLY get a star above the Crest. Let's make it 2!
Re: uniforms it's very common practice for portions of the SA email to get posted on BS... i would imagine that they are well aware of it and don't really mind, as it gets their name out there as being a useful piece of information for people to have... thus a free "hey this is cool, you might want to get it" advertisement otherwise, i am sure they would have bitched to huss to have mods keep an eye out for such things and delete the quoted portions when it occurs -jim
uniforms jim - you're probably right about this. We're going through an issue like this at the office this week, so I'm probably paranoid right now. On with the uniform discussion...
Naturally, when I have authentic jersey coming in the mail, they are changing the uniforms. Just my luck.
Puma as Chicago's new supplier? Liam's inside information was just a couple years off. Expect Mike Magee to join the Fire on a P-40 contract for the 2005 season.
Good Christ...don't you have something better to do, like finding a place to play your home playoff matches or determining a way to win when Mathis doesn't suit up? Back to your hole. Just follow the lime green trail of ooze.
Didn't Puma do Poland's unis? I'd love a Fire road set with White-Red-White...and I'd favor losing the "FIRE" lettering and just letting the badge stand alone...I'll see what kind of clout I've got.
I thought of it too, but it's such a tradition. I'll see if I can throw together some pics of illustrations of different ideas. Yes, Puma does make Poland jerseys.
