Norwich relegated and playing for pride. Chelsea in a tight battle for the top four. Pulisic starts on the wing Willian opposite and Giroud back in for Abraham. Jorginho starts again, this time with Mount and Kovacic. Alono back at left back, Azpilicueta back to the right, Christensen healthy enough to play with Zouma as CBs. Kepa's gonna Kepa, hopefully facing few shots today.
I'm seeing two different "confirmed" starting lineups, so my previous starting lineup might be wrong. Sorry.
Mount is on the bench. Here's the Chelsea team to take on Norwich! 👊#CHENOR pic.twitter.com/rZ5B6oOnb9— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) July 14, 2020
"Chelsea boss Frank Lampard makes five changes to the side who were heavily beaten 3-0 by Sheffield United on Saturday. Olivier Giroud starts up front, replacing Tammy Abraham, while Andreas Christensen drops to the bench and Antonio Rudiger comes into the defence. Marcos Alonso, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic also start. Reece James, Ross Barkley and Mason Mount are substitutes. Chelsea XI: Kepa, Rudiger, Alonso, Jorginho, Willian, Loftus-Cheek, Zouma, Kovacic, Giroud, Pulisic, Azpilicueta Subs: Caballero, Christensen, Barkley, Abraham, Pedro, Mount, Hudson-Odoi, James, Tomori" {Per the BBC coverage}
Bonus points to anyone who can name the song playing on the Stamford Bridge PA when the team took the field.
just tuning in, im ok with the lineup in the sense that pulisic wont be tripping over teammates getting in his way. he can do it himself, hopefully bounce one off some part of giroud, or give willian like a 5th goal in 7 matches. on the, well, not bright side theyve got 1 1/2 passable cbs which is better than usual....
I'm not really sure why Chelsea refuses to play through the middle. It's like they are playing with no CAM, which I guess they are.
He has to, otherwise how will he ensure he doesn't accidentally pass to him in a good position? Except when Puli can only pass it back...
I've seen William pass straight to the other team like four times already. Another thing I've noticed often about Chelsea... they have the opportunity to go on a counter and always pass it back instead immediately. Wish they would take the chance sometimes
Honestly watching them the last two weeks I have no idea how Chelsea are where they are in the league. They look midtable.
Alonso gets to the endline, cutback to CP, whose first-time shot goes into the side netting. Everyone was beaten but two feet off on the aim.
