Bremen finally gets the ball for a little while and sets up a Kruse 25' shot toward the lower near corner, well saved by Oelschlagel. I hate these situations where BVB has all of the possession but never attacks with speed and they get countered at high speed.
Hakimi in a completely different game. Puli tries to combine with him but he insists on running to the middle and tries to make the pass to the forwards himself, leaving Puli confused and isolated on the side.
I'm encouraged that CP is not attempting to dribble past people and instead seems to be prioritizing combining.
Made it to the American pub (not American owned) and I had the chicken wings that sucked, but at least I scratched that itch here in Germany.
Shame Puli is trying to prioritize combining on the side just when he has a guy behind him with no interest to combine on wing play.
And that's Hakimi's ball into the area #10 that goes right to the feet of a Bremen defender. Ref not giving one to Puli. Every time he gets fouled, Felix Brych just shrugs.
Nice 1-2 Hakimi and Pulisic created a ball into the danger zone, but Hakimi sort of played it to an area with no one in it. However, since Hakimi and Pulisic have spent too much time standing on the touchline each being wider than the other this half, it was nice to see one being pinched in a little bit working to create some space and almost a chance.
Shame, Puli started well but between Hakimi wanting to get the assist stat at any cost and Brych ignoring the fouls on him, Puli is looking done.
Appeal for a penalty on clever Gotze run. At full speed I thought it was a penalty, crowd definitely thinks so.
Sorry, it was Guerriero off a 1-2 from Gotze. Might have been outside the box, might have been less contact than it originally appeared.
Bremen ending the game playing better than Dortmund. BvB completely forgetting the right side where the lack of coordination between Hakimi and Puli has produced nothing for 30 minutes, and on the right they get stoppered by a well organized defense. Without Reus in the middle, there's no one to whom cross the ball and generate a chance.
"You get the sense that the next goal wins." Yes, Announcer Man, it's 1-1 in the 82nd minute and there hasn't been a good chance this half. I do get that sense, surprisingly.
