The only saving grace is Chelsea don’t need this win to secure either a champions league spot or to prevent relegation. Can you IMAGINE the abuse Pulisic would get if either scenario was on the line?
If you asked me what Chelsea was trying to accomplish offensively, I couldn't tell you. It's just a bunch of hero ball.
I've always though Pulisic was a good finisher and a big-game player, but recent perspective will dictate reality, and I am afraid most will argue he has a case of "Werner-itis" in front of goal
There’s such a thing as being TOO wide open - in any sport. That was one of those. But why did it have to happen to our boy!
He's so damn unsure of himself. Chelsea is poor in the run of play though. And their counter ability is non existent. They attack 11 behind the ball the entire game.
He’s always been a mediocre finisher when he has more than a moment to think but I did not think that extended to whiffing on a tap-in.
They all are. Tuchel may need to adjust both his tactics and his man management. His team may be less than the sum of the parts. I won't be shocked if one, or all, of CP-Lukaku-Ziyech-Werner are elsewhere next year and look noticeably better.
CP looks like a different man when he has a USA shirt on. Even though there's not much tactical/strategic genius in that setup, either.
Call me unconvinced that Sterling will be super effective on this boring Chelsea team without a squad of worldies setting him up with open chances.
I’m not really a Sterling expert but isn’t he dependent on good service and playing in the open field?
Anyone know the Prem record for number of corner kicks for one team in a game? Chelsea already have 10.
